Maybe he could just look at the security tapes from the Yotsuba building. Either way, L cleverly cornered him and he feels under pressure so maybe he didn't think about this possibility or he doesn't want to do the deal :p

2023-10-06 00:21:04 +0000 UTCGuys I think you don't get just how bad the Shinigami eyes deal is, let's say he was gonna get busted and die in 24 hours he gets the deal and escapes from L then he will NO MATTER WHAT die in 12 hours. you do NOT wanna make the deal to escape a situation really cause it can only get worse.

2023-10-06 00:08:51 +0000 UTCI don't think asking Rem to do the deal for the eyes would have helped Higuchi at all here :p. He was still trying to figure out who could know about him when they revealed Matsuda for a second on the TV and he finally realized. After that even if he made the deal he would have to look at Matsuda's face again to see his name, which they concealed again. Also I don't think the eyes work through TV or electronics so finding a picture online or something like that wouldn't work either :p So he has to find the name out like he is currently
