Late to the party but you guys called it. This was indeed the "Firebombing of Tokyo" in WW2. The Japanese military had hidden many military facilities amidst civilian housing in Tokyo and with Japanese architecture having so much wood and paper when they got bombed the whole city went up in flames. The anime is not exaggerating at all, the heat was so intense that the rising hot air completely changed the wind patterns and caused a fire tornado in the middle of the city. "Hardcore History" has a great series called "Supernova in the East" that covers this which is hard to listen to but I highly recommend it.

This is one of my favorite Isekais. There are some weirder ones out there where the main character is a sword, a spider, or a vending machine. There is also one called Konosuba which makes fun of Isekais.

The show definetly has hype moments. The serious parts are VERY well made. The humor can drag sometimes but overall its a good show. If you end up liking this show, then you will absolutely LOVE Overlord, which would be a pretty good follow up to this.

I was reffering to Mushoku having more in common with the common isekai not Re Zero. Re:Zero does so many things differently and has such a self contained story. Also anime like .Hack//Sign are actually more of a grandfather isekai btw as it came out before so many others along with The Twelve Kingdoms etc.

As you all say in the beginning, Re:Zero is definitely in it's own category. Moshuko comes close and has good writing in some areas but it still has more in common with the more common isekai such as slime and overlord etc.
