both a's in "aka" sound the exact same. so take the leading "ah", and use that exact same sound in the "ka". so "ah kah". your mouth position should start and end in the exact same position, only changing when you pronounce the "k" in between. hopefully that helps

the 'a' in japanese is always consistent and its pronounced as "Ahh", just like the first syllable of "Akatsuki", so its neither "cat" nor "cot". The correct pronunciation is Ahh-Kahh-Tsu-Ki and when pronounced quickly you don't hear the "u" sound, similar when you hear "Sasuke" as "Saske".

But the “A” in “KAT” is pronounced like “Ahh” there for making it sound like “COT” if you read “KAT” most people would pronounce it “CAT” which is wrong. The spelling is right but it’s pronounced “kot•suki” not “Kat•suki” but it is spelled that way. Just watch people say it on any media/digital platform lol
