Arcane S1 Ep 3

Sorry for the late upload! Processing time took longer than normal. But damn!! What's about to happen to Vi and Powder?!

Comments

Nah he spoiled Jayce being successful in the last episode even though he was on trial about creating magic and being told not to. If a character were to be used to fake a death he spoiled that they survived ruing the writer choice to use them as a plot device. The point is to be considerate of what other people don’t know by saying nothing at all and if he wanted to talk about these things he could talk to other league players. It ruins the emotional connection to the show because he connection is different from someone who goes into it completely blind.

Aaron williams

I’m watching this reaction currently and Ron literally spoiled Jayce succeeding in creating arcane objects by telling her information about him as a champion in the episode before lol. But they’re watching season 2 now

Aaron williams

I'm a year late watching your reaction to this but to be honest, I'm on Ron's side with this one. Recognizing characters from the game doesn't make it a spoiler for those who doesn't know them. A spoiler would be knowing how they become those characters or simply knowing what the plot is. Knowing Ekko's abilities is different from knowing how he got it. P.S. - it's like watching a Superman movie. You know Superman and his abilities and what his capable of, but you don't know what will happen in the movie. 😁

BAM

This reaction is like a year old lol but on the topic of spoilers, i think i compare the "spoilers" Ron was doing here to the "spoilers" Michelle was doing all the way back to Demon Slayer s1. Back then, because Michelle was remembering this she enjoyed, she'd like... vaguely refer things like "omg this part is so exciting" or "Oh I forgot about this!", and it was something that was addressed because 1) it can be distracting when you're trying to immerse in something you have no relationship with, and 2) it sets up what i call a "spoiler of expectation". It doesnt spoil EXACT story beats, but now the person isnt going to be as surprised by them because they were prepared for it to SOMETHING like that to happen

Ghoullie

There is a voice line in the game from a character named fiddlesticks and he says "your fault, your fault, your fault" implying to this scene where powder accidentally killed all her own... kinda messed up but makes sense. Fiddlesticks only says that line to jinx(powder)

Leo Mikael

I had to sit through these credits as well, crying the whole time. One of the few shows that make me so emotional that I watch the credits and still cry from the song

Krievv

Jinx was upset, because it was her that told Vander that Vi letf somewhere, so she believes that its her fault

Turzy

Ron is just doubling down

HazyCatalyst

Rons so loud wrong about spoiling it hurts

Joshua Brown

Ideally you wanna watch them in sequences of 3 episodes. They use a 2 episodes introduction/build-up 3rd episode, conclusion to something, type of way.

DefinitlyNotHana

I personally think Silco saw himself in powder and that's why he changed his mind on killing her, since he went through something similar. But I loved this episode! the acting, music, everything. And I think Michelle is right; I think Powder gradually became evil. What with her sister's friends keep insisting she can't do anything, but the main thing was that I think she felt disgusted with herself for accidentally killing her friends and father figure, and with her only sister leaving her, just a whole lot of trauma.

Alex Boll

I feel not knowing the characters makes it better as a league player cause I know the direction things will go knowing the characters and if j didn't the twist and turns would be better so in with Michelle sorry Ron you still my boy tho

Jordan

The show doesn't even get there lol They did a nod to it in the bridge scene (keeping it vague here). I'm pretty sure they hinted at it being actually developed at the end of arcane (if you know the short scene that hints at it) for next season. So yeah, unless someone sought out more info about the characters it is a spoiler.

whalesaph

This animation is such a emotional rollercoaster, can't wait for reactions on the last 3 episodes.

Timothy Clayton

Also like I said, the animation, the story everything is a masterpiece 👌 I play league also lol

Justin SQFL

It's a spoiler cause she didn't know ekko would have that ability or get there. If the story showed he had died earlier on and you said he had those abilities, it's more then likely she would know he doesn't die just because you spoiled it lol

Justin SQFL

I'm usually on Ron's side but I have Michele's back this time. Don't sat anything you know from the games because it could spoil her. Like how she didn't realize powder was jinx.

john Alexander

Powder is in so much distress and upheaval that anyone’s affection is better than no affection, she just can’t be alone. Once accepted by Silco she gets angry, that I’m going to prove to you that you shouldn’t have left me feeling.

Mackenzie

Childhood trauma can lead to abandonment issues, reactivity, self destructive behaviour, low self-esteem, anxiety, anger, etc. We see a lot of these things in powder, especially abandonment/attachment issues. Powder is desperate to be a contributing member of her family and she is suddenly left alone with nothing to do but spiral. She’s not having a tantrum she’s having a panic attack. You can just SEE her thoughts of: I’m not good enough, if only I was better/stronger/more helpful/more like vi, I’m alone, why did they leave me.. she’s angry at herself for not being good enough to go where her family is going. And now she’s alone because of it.

Mackenzie

All the music in the show was made just for the show

Centric

11/10

Alexander Nguyen

like if i were to convert the example into star wars, if you're going in blind as to what is going to happen in the first movie, the gravity of revealing a kid we're watching is going to obtain some form of time traveling in arcane is going to feel like the same gravity of information as someone telling you who luke's father is at the beginning. imo

DB Cooper

ron you know who ekko is but michelle has only seen him as a cute kid, you telling her about his time travel ability is going to feel like as spoiler to her regardless of how little you know about the lore of league

DB Cooper

At the Annie awards 2022 Arcane won all 9 categories they were nominated in. They have also won maany more than that in other award ceremonies

BynFlew

Yes they made the outro song just for the show. They made a whole ALBUM just for this show of just actual bangers

BynFlew

it's spoiling that the character can't die until it's proven that she becomes Jinx. That's a spoiler on its own, for what it's worth

Ben

She’s just a little girl who’s been through a lot and she took whatever comfort she could find. Which is why she hugged Silco, she had a lot of panic attacks before and then Vi left her and it seemed worse bc the guard didn’t allow Vi to go help Powder ;( so poor Powder just though Vi left her for good

Kat

I 100% get what you mean, the slightest clue from Ron can lead you on to something, even if it's not on purpose or seems unrelated. I also get Ron's point of view, always exciting to watch a show where you can try to put some puzzle pieces together and it's hard not to voice it out. Anyway have a wonderful watch, love you both.

Ben

because he made the connection that powder is jinx out loud. So now she knows

defnotdai

You are not wrong! personally, and I am not saying my way of thinking is right, just sharing more of my thought process so you guys understand, was similar to: Because I know there is a show called Baruto, It is a spoiler because that tells me Naruto has a kid and doesnt die anytime soon. I look at knowing league characters in this show as the same concept. BUT, that doesnt mean I shouldnt just keep it to myself. I get that lol

Michelle Lam

Thats how I thought about it too!!! LOL but majority wins and I will listen

Michelle Lam

Thank you! You guys are never too hard, and I know its always coming from a good place! Appreciate yall and the feedback, because I know I am not perfect and make a TON of mistakes LOL

Michelle Lam

I hope we are not too hard on you, Ron. We appreciate your unfiltered and honest reactions to the show as well. I personally really love the energy you bring! Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate that :)

Harsh Sharma

I'm agreeing with Michelle here. If you're coming at this from a non-league person's perspective, you basically spoil that certain characters are going to make it out alive and/or has some sort of higher purpose in the show and that is HUGE spoilers. Plus, interrupting the show every time the character is there to explain some aspect of them not only is it spoiling it can get annoying as well when we just wanna see what happens. We get it! You play league!

Bungkai

Also when powder went crazy alone in the room beeing left alone she had like a panic attack because powder didnt have any way of knowing if she would ever see her family again. Like everybody leaving. Powder wanted to help them. Also Powder and Vi are real Sisters, in the first epsiode its hinted at that her mom had blue hair and the father had red hair thats why the split haircolors aswell. (hard to pick up but seeing it more then once makes it somewhat easy to realize)

Crome18

Im kinda confused, she doesnt even know who jinx is, so how can she be spoiled that powder is jinx Lol

Crome18

Mods wya dang nammit (ik they can't do much here lol)

Ace

True good point, I believe she was only able to see decker in his mutated form

Shark

I know you are right lol I failed to see it during recording. But it get it better now lol

Michelle Lam

NO. I HAVE TO PROVE THAT I PLAY LEAGUE!!!! C'MON!!!!!😜

Michelle Lam

you are not wrong. I just failed to see it that way during recording. lol

Michelle Lam

Everyone is kinda spoiling me (Ron) now LOL you all are confirming things without even knowing it lol but i get what yall are saying 100%! personally, and I am not saying my way of thinking is right, just sharing more of my thought process so you guys understand, was similar to: Because I know there is a show called Baruto, It is a spoiler because that tells me Naruto has a kid and doesnt die anytime soon. I look at knowing league characters in this show as the same concept. BUT, that doesnt mean I shouldnt just keep it to myself. So I will from now on!

Michelle Lam

I do agree with you all. In my defense however, I dont know what powers the show is going to use or show so are you actually the one spoiling me? LOL

Michelle Lam

Also does she even know who Silco is exactly? Like I don’t think she actually saw him before that so it makes even more sense that she could latch on to him in a traumatic moment

Not Amused

Ron everything you’re saying is indeed spoilers. You may not realize because you haven’t seen the show all the way through yet. Therefore you wouldn’t be able to fully call if something is a spoiler yet. But as someone who’s seen the show, I can. So just to play it safe, it’s best not to say anything Michelle isn’t aware of. The mentioning of them getting older, and ekkos ability, and powder being jinx, and even just saying the name jinx are all considered spoilers. Not really for league players, but for non league players. We get you’re excited and you’ve played the game, but you gotta be considerate for Michelle. Focus on the current point in the plot. Have discussions regarding what’s already been presented to you. No hate though, I hope y’all are enjoying the show, just some feedback.

defnotdai

i really hope they showed more backstories about powder to really understand her mental instability, but i guess maybe it's just come down to the accumulation of childhood traumas since her parents died when she's still very young

adam

Is this a hint we are getting 4-6 and 7-9? :)

CE Ong

OK I see your guys points! MY BAD! I Think you all are not wrong. I will not say anything moving forward! (Sadly, we are on ep 6😅)

Michelle Lam

Like Michelle said she has no idea who any of these characters are. Why would she want to know who/what they can do if the show hasn’t told her yet? You telling her stuff like that is by definition a spoiler. Lol

Medusa

Lol Ron we all know you know. So no need to show that you know. There is nothing to prove. I get the excitement though! Great reaction as always.

CE Ong

What?! Telling what the characters powers are IS a spoiler. Why would you tell someone something that hasn't even happened yet??

britt m

Nahhh Ron I'm with Michelle on this one. You telling the powers is taking away from the fun of the reveal! It doesn't bother you cause you already know what they are. I'd be annoyed too if someone did that to me~ 😤

britt m

Btw Arcane did win an Emmy Award Also little late but it’s recommend to watch episodes from 1-3, 4-6, 7-9. But you do you xd it’s enjoyable in anyway you watch it.

Mango

Knowing and keeping it to yourself isn't a spoiler, but telling others about the characters and their powers or relationships is

SirCatelot

And as to why the enforcer Marcus took vi, he needed someone to take back ultimately to save himself as-well because it would reveal his partnership with Silco, and also because if he didn’t she along with powder would’ve probably been murdered as-well as himself if he tried to help. it was the best decision on the Board

Shark

As to why she hugged Silco, She’s a little girl (~10 years old) who is suffering from PTSD and mental instability who relied on Vi and others to maintain her sanity. After Vi abandoned her with hurtful parting words (from Powder’s POV), she was left all alone and desperately needed someone to cling onto so that she doesn’t fall deeper into despair.

Shark

Im so happy you are watching this serie guys :D cant wait for morreeee :D

Pablito

Knowing the characters isn't a spoiler idk what people are on about.

lordpanda

Yes it’s spoiling for NON-league players. Like if you say ”That character is a champion in league” it kinda spoils that that character MIGHT not die in Arcane. And I remember Ron saying ”I can’t wait to see Ekko grow up because in league he is older” or something like that. That is a spoiler too. Non-league players want to figure things out themselves. Not being told every single thing what is what and who is who.

Mango

I think of it like this, in Aot you guys saw future armin when you thought he died. The same could happen in this show, not that it would. Also its like saying that Deku is the kid who will get a bunch of quirks to someone who just started watching My Hero. Whats amazing is that this show can be enjoyed by both league players and non league players equally in different ways, like getting excited to see your character's past, before they grow up and gain powers, or for some, getting introduced to these interesting characters and how they will change as the show goes on. Also if we know which are the champions and that they grow up, there is less risk for the champions because we know they probably won't die. I just wanted to give my thoughts on it I hope it doesn't come off mean! Love you guys!

makimama

Ron, its spoiler and youre just excusing it. The same thing with jayce hammer. You will end up ruining all the surprices for michelle xD staaahp

Seba Andorade

Jake Turner

even the Imagine dragons song is an arcane original! it was made for the show!!

LelouchFam

Just so you guys know throughout the first three episodes there are very subtle hints that powder has a very serious case of a abandonment disorder as well as mental fragility. A lot of reactors had this same reaction that it was out of nowhere... its supposed to be a shock! but the team made sure to leave the subtle clues. Yes powders disorders do cause her to have an episode inn what seems like out of nowhere! and yes her abandonment issues (stemming from the loss of parents) causes her to immediately latch on to the next person that shows her any interest after she feels abandoned. one of the things i love about arcane is that it never will give you a ton of exposition and very obvious character traits, everything is done very subtle and rewards attention!

LelouchFam

yea I agree with ron she was feeling all of these emotions at the same time and she's young , vi out of the three was the only one who stuck up for her and believed in her plus leaving her in a vulnerable state like that its just sad to see bc all of her intentions were good

saylaa

One of the beauties of this show is that it holds different value to the different viewers. The league players that are familiar with the characters and even the lore get to see a twist of it and how things get how they are familiar with them; and to a new viewer who knows nothing about League or characters they get a fantastic story without having to know anything about League. I hope that made sense to someone else and not just me.

Vimichi

Pretty sure they are real sisters and yes, Ron, any and all info imo is a spoiler lol. Idk how much left there is to spoil but maybe possible. Also as for Powder's outburst, I think it relates to 1. emotional problems from having lost both parents and 2. emotional problems from always feeling useless, or even a detriment to everything. Then, as for turning on Vi, she basically blamed Powder for killing their dad and friends, confirmed that she is useless, and (from Powder's perspecive) abandoned her into the hands of Silco. So, I mean, seems reasonable to me anyway. Oh yeah and I think I heard all the music in this show is original, other than the Imagine Dragons song. idk if you've heard of Sting but he has a great song at one point.

Jake Turner

Same ron when i heard that song I was instantly hooked

killilu

(for anyone who already knows the LOL characters) I consider bringing up names to be somewhat of a spoiler because there is a pattern between characters that exist in LOL that might ruin moments in future episodes and picking up that pattern really does kinda ruin it, just a little though.

Trandon

The only thing I consider spoilers here is saying abilities, not names. The thing with shouting the names is its clearly effecting her experience Edit: Lets not forget shes also like 10 and in her eyes her sister just left her, wouldn't you seek comfort wherever you can get it?

Ace

Such a good show

Jacob Bailey

Honestly it really shouldn’t matter but this show has a lot of shock value that can come at the risk of spoiling if the basics are explained. It’s sad to think it’s spoiling. but it’s not really a bad thing to recognize characters from your favorite game it would make anyone excited to share.
