No the marks just awakened this season. Rengoku and Tengen didn't have them. You'll learn more about that in the future.

So, regarding Genya, he's similar to the Kamaboko Squad in the sense that they each represent one of the five senses. Tanjiro - Smell; Zenitsu - Hearing; Inosuke - Touch; and now Genya - Taste. It's really just that, if I remember correctly. No other reason for it, other than that he just has this special ability.

So Rengoku and Tengen were actually not marked during their fights in season 2, and the reason won't be revealed in this arc unfortunately. The reason the next episode is the final episode is because it's gonna be extended, similar to how the last episode of the Entertainment District Arc was extended (it was around 30 minutes vs the usual 20ish). Also, idk why they didn't mention it, and I don't think they'll mention it at all, but Genya simply has a special talent of digesting demon flesh. At the same point that Genya's explaining it in the anime, the manga just tells us that it's a special talent and he's the only corps member who can do it. I don't feel like that's a spoiler honestly because it was literally supposed to be said there and I don't think it'll be said again. I'm sooooo excited for the next episode I really hope you guys enjoy it.
