Hey all! I got something new and different for you. If you've been following the updates on my discord server, I've been working on and off on an original story called "Become Obsidian," a dark fantasy BL story that explores themes such as death, rebirth, generational trauma, and breaking tradition. This is a project that started on years ago, and I have unfinished art, writing, and even music for this series. This is going to be a long term project, which means I probably won't start on anything super ambitious right away. I want to really devote time to slowly develop the story until it gets to a point where I can adapt it into a comic or animated series. Until then, I will be releasing little fragments of the lore and artwork.
If you enjoy listening to podcasts, I started a page on Spotify to host audio content for this project. The first episode is available now! I also get the opportunity to monetize this content if I reach 100 listeners, so any support is appreciated. Let me know what you think of it so far.
Synopsis: For centuries, the people of Achala have tried to escape the harsh conditions of the Obsidian, a deadly black desert inhabited by restless spirits. An imperial soldier nearly dies fighting in the wasteland when a mysterious white knight rescues him, giving him an opportunity to start over beyond the borders of the cursed empire.
They say that if you listen closely, you may hear the anguished cries of fallen soldiers who died fighting in the Obsidian, an endless black desert inhabited by undying skeleton-like creatures. In the great empire of Achala, we call these creatures the Unruly. Their smell of rot lingers in the air, dry and polluted by toxic desert smoke. Ashfall occurs several days a week, causing the sky to cycle between different shades of red as the weather changes. Some believe the desert is a curse or a punishment from god to imprison the empire for its sins. Others consider it a warning to protect the people from the outside world. Even so, no one ever survives to see what lies beyond the red skies, and those who leave and wander back home alive never recall leaving in the first place.
