Vibe check: Chaos, creativity, and a bit of Capture One madness. But the sauce? Undeniable.
📸 On Set Energy
Studio shoot with Tati — using a snoot for that clean, dramatic lighting.
Mixing in natural light (no flash) and going ISO 6400+:
“Don’t be afraid to crank that ISO up. AI editing will clean all that up. We not scared of a little grain.”Pulling out the Milar roll later for reflective “water vibes” — came together off the cuff.
Lighting mishaps, bulb breaks, fans flying, but we made it work.
🧩 Tech Struggles, Real-Time Solutions
Capture One stopped tethering mid-shoot, tried everything — reboots, unplugging, switching SD cards.
“I factory reset my camera... so yeah, it’s probably me.”
Rolled with it: shot straight to SD and kept the show moving.
🎯 Creative Direction
Heavy use of creative posing, spotlight aesthetics, off-camera flash tips, and dramatic composition.
Played with framing, headshots, wide shots, shadow play, and background color pops.
“That little pink chair? Keep it. Adds color. Balance the browns and golds.”
Constant coaching: “Give me pain, give me face, rub your thighs like you sexy…”
💬 Real Talk Gems
“Studio setups don’t need to be crazy. I started with a speedlight and cheap backdrop paper in my college apartment.”
“One-light setups are the foundation. If you can’t do that clean, don’t even talk about 3-light setups.”
“You don’t need the fanciest gear. You need to know why you're using what you're using.”
🧠 Pro Tips Dropped
Optical Snoot: $50–$100, multiple inserts for light shaping (circles, slits, etc.)
Favorite studio focal length: 35–50mm
Shooting ISO: Don’t be afraid of 6400+
Light placement: Off at an angle for depth + 3D feel
Creative gear list: Mentioned he’ll update it to include the snoot
Always have backup bulbs — you’ll thank yourself later.
📦 End of the Session
Plans to go live later to review photos.
Had to switch to the laptop cam (mad pixelated) near the end but decided to save y’all from that quality.
Shouted out the team: Hennessy for the set, creative directors, and Katie on BTS.
Wrapped with, “Y’all cool with that? Bet. Catch y’all in a few.”
