Added 2020-02-19 23:55:32 +0000 UTCThe 64 Disk Drive was supposed to be the N64's answer to the CD-ROM medium used by the N64's competitors, the PS1 and Saturn. However, despite it being a repeated talking point by Nintendo all the way back to 1996, it finally came out in 1999 with barely a whimper at which point few cared anymore and it would not even release outside of Japan - the next generation was already looming around the corner.
Mupen64Plus Next now emulates the 64 Disk Drive, so one can finally discover what all the buzz really was about! Be sure to read our article about it, and also check out our YouTube video. As always, it's available right now on RetroArch.
