Say hello to your friends!
It's time for episode two of The Baby-Sitters Club, and this episode is all about Claudia! How cute is her style?!
Today Lauren is joined by gifted improviser/TV writer, Shaun Diston! The two discuss the parallels between BSC and Star Wars, Shaun's childhood summers in Jamaica, Kirsten Dunst's interesting connection to this series, and we find out which character best represents Shaun.
Check out Shaun's Patreon and go watch ROBBIE on Comedy Central and YouTube (the entire season is up for free)!

When I was a kid, I had to read these in order numerically, and I had a list of the numbers I didn't have. So when I'd finish enough books, my dad would take my old ones to the used book store, and swap for the #s I didn't have so I could keep reading in order. | I agree though, I think they cast everyone so perfectly, especially Claudia (and Janine, and Mimi). The outfits and the hidden candy are SPOT ON and made me feel like I was reading the books again! (and I think she was DEF Tippy Hedren from the Birds) Talking about spin-off's and thick white books, do you remember all the Super Specials too? Those were part of the BSC series, but were thick white books and were from all their perspectives instead of one and I think came with like little presents, like an envelope you could open inside with a BSC necklace or something. You have no idea how happy I am to find someone else who's as obsessed with this as me!!!

2020-08-28 16:51:11 +0000 UTCI don't think this was supposed to be visible without being a patreon, but I am SO HAPPY to listen to it. Things are tight right now, but hopefully when life gets back to some sort of new normal, I'd love to participate! <3
2020-07-31 17:53:01 +0000 UTCWhen you two were discussing the "grown-up babysitters" series, i was thinking about the movie Now and Then (which i love) and I think this really needs to happen Lauren!
2020-07-31 01:34:52 +0000 UTChahaha!
2020-07-16 21:37:11 +0000 UTCAm I the only one who thinks she was dressed up as Moira playing the Crow in Schitt’s Creek?!? Haha!

2020-07-12 03:39:19 +0000 UTCI found the BuzzFeed quiz and got Mary Ann! Which makes sense because while watching the season I tweeted that I'm a Mary Ann sun, Christy moon and Claudia rising. I wonder if there is a canonical birthday for Mary Ann because I definitely was getting Cancer vibes from her 😂

2020-07-10 21:21:28 +0000 UTCI am so thankful you are doing this series!! I read all the books when I was younger and this is the happy place I can escape to while tackling quarantine and social justice! Thank you for giving us a little happy in the midst of all of the chaos!
2020-07-10 02:21:07 +0000 UTCOmg, I loved this. As well as the first ep with Ronna! I binged the entire series on Friday...and I have no experience with TBC...but now am obsessed with this new show. Shaun and Ronna are both such fun people to talk to, and I’m loving reliving the eps via your discussion...because the show is seriously so good!!! Was never expecting this to be one of my fave shows of the year. And love you!

2020-07-07 05:47:00 +0000 UTCClaudia was definitely Tippi Hedron from The Birds. I think it was just a cute thing but definitely a throwback of a throwback. Nothing like that in the books

2020-07-06 07:44:27 +0000 UTCPs. I loved for them describing Claudia's outfit in the books and I tried to make my clothes look like that but I am... gifted in other ways!

2020-07-06 07:07:05 +0000 UTCOk I'm listening and I already have so much to say! 😂 I remember BSc books being 1.95 and then the super specials were 3.95 and 4.95 but sometime sour library would have a bag sale and you could get as many as you could fit for $10! If Shaun ever wants to do a Sister Act 2 podcast I am so down! I was a church kid and a latch key kid so all I could watch was that and like, Newsies. Also, did Shaun's parents ever test call after 8pm to see if he would answer and then get mad when he did? Mine did! 💁🏾♀️ The Star Wars parallels are GREAT! Ooh and I wanted to give a little note about your spinoff. I think you said there were four but only named three. Babysitters Little Sister did follow Karen who I couldn't stand but if they made a series now I would watch it! The Kids in Ms. Coleman's class was the spin-off of that and way after my time. The California diaries were Dawn's account when she would spend summers back in CA with her dad. Additionally, there were the Super Specials where they did vacations, there were mysteries and super mysteries which were pretty contrived but I did not care. Then finally there was Friends Forever which I was way too grown for but tried to force my niece to read, haha! Still don't know how that ended but now I have a chance to check it out! Sorry for this long comment!
