Peter’s parents being alive in any capacity I think is worth exploring. It’s probably not both alive this go-round but future incarnations, whatever format. This is still a radical change for TV and film that is more naturally introduced than what Amazing Spider-Man 2 attempted. The dynamic of a separated family member reintegrating brings on unfamiliar dynamics like we’ve seen with Grunkle Ford and modern day Gravity Falls, even if he didn’t really have all that long with the town’s status quo before Weirdmageddon but at least we get it with Dipper and Mabel. Arnold’s parents on Hey Arnold! are probably a closer approximation to Peter’s than that but since the crux of their major appearance was getting them home it wasn’t explored too much.
