Pole Tutorial: Suicide Spin

This is a slightly terrifying but wonderfully dramatic move for polers who are confident in their leg grip.

Freestyle Training

Sometimes, while another instructor is running a class, I like to hop on a spare pole and challenge myself to do some combos to their music. It’s an interesting challenge because I’m usually not very familiar with the songs, so I’m trying to adapt speed, etc. as I go.

Here are a few examples. They’re not exactly polished, but it’s a process!

The last one of these was well received, so here’s another! This pole was a bit less smooth in the spin, so I didn’t get quite as many rotations in, but I went for some more advance moves this time.

Movement play: transitioning between poles

One of the things I often struggle with in routines is how to smoothly use the space between poles, so I’ve been spending some time playing with different movements that can take me across that space.

(I have a performance coming up at the end of April, so I’m using it as an excuse to level up my choreography)
