Star Trek: The Original Series ep 13

Star Trek: The Original Series ep 13

Comments

Havent been watching any of the Star Trek episodes. But got bored today and this one had me locked in for some reason. Seen a few in the past and i felt โ€œOnce youโ€™ve seen one, youโ€™ve seen em all.โ€ But now bout to jump to 14.

D-Matrix

i agree michael highlight of my day too

Silly Uncle Andy Farmer

Love the series, Leo. Watching this series with you is the highlight of my day. Keep em coming. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Loving this series, I know TNG like the back of my hand, but rewatching these has made me realize iv forgotten a couple of these TOS episodes

E-Hensley

This was a great and often underrated episode, introduced Kirk's past. Poor capt survived a massacre when he was 13! You can tell it was still tramatic for him. i think Kirk wasn't really smitten by the girl, he only approached her for her father. Remember captain does everything strategically in the interest of his ship. Similar idea (Kirk acting weird because of past PTSD,Spock noticing & Mccoy calling him out) will be explored in later episodes. From here on you're in for a great run of season 1 episodes!

i felt a little bad for the dad, at least he knew what he did was terrible.

Fatal N Felony

I mean I would think more fans would be upset if he missed season two... ๐Ÿ˜… imagine finishing TOS without watching Amok Time, Mirror Mirror, Journey to Babel, The Trouble with Tribbles? City, as wonderful as that episode is, doen't give much trek world building, but these are iconic episodes with world building and alien concepts that have influenced all treks to come. I would say only season 3 is okay to skip but it still has great episodes like The Enterprise Incident, The Tholian Web, and Let That Be Your Last Battlefield that is directly referenced in movie 3. TNG is an entirely new crew that takes time to get used to, he seems to be attached to the OG crew now, id recommend finishing it all the way and build audience from this first. and Mr. Video trust me, stopping TOS at S1E28 when it's so close to Amok Time (S2E1) would cause the biggest uproar ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is going to sound nuts given how the world appears to most people at the moment but Earth might become the ideal planet that you describe in the outtro sooner than we think โ˜บ๏ธ.

@Mr. Video no. You probably should react to "The City on the Edge of Forever" but the movies fill in a lot of stuff that is covered in the original series.

Mr. Video there are people here who I would label as "old head" Trek fans including myself who would probably not be upset if you finished the films and switched to The Next Generation. The 1960's series isn't like modern day TV and is a product of its era. With the episodes you watched along with the movies adding more context, you'll get the base core of what Star Trek is. The only episode you should not skip is episode 28. "The City on the Edge of Forever" is one of the best episodes of science fiction of all time, regardless of tv series and a GOAT episode of TOS. If you end with that in your TOS run, continue with the movies, and get into the meat and potatoes of Trek with Star Trek: The Next Generation, many old school fans won't have a problem. Most old trek heads are probably anticipating your TNG reactions anyway. The movies do a great job in filling new viewers in on stuff they may have missed in The Original Series while handing off the torch to a new Enterprise crew.

Sadly this is the last time we see Lieutenant Riley. I'll miss the little Irish bug. Next episode: Highway to the Neutral Zone!

Filby Pott

We need another chick flick! Devil Wears Prada and Miss Congeniality are both fun, funny, and full of gorgeous women! And both are very popular movies!

Violet

Of course, another great reaction. Loving these, and on a daily basis no less. Only because it's been a while, I gotta throw "The Hustler" 1961 out there for a recommendation again (beat the others to it). Checking the app every hour now thanks to you. But really, Thanks to you sir. Looking forward.

I agree.

Jeremy Vickers

who could ever really say on the uproar thing but, I have to admit they look great. Never really been a fan of that kind of remastering stuff, but this may be the exception. idk.

clays283

Nah you'll be fine man, nothing changes in the show except it just looks a bit better, that's all!

I grew up watching the original series and all the treks so Iโ€™m old-school in that way. And I enjoy the up-to-date graphics. And I think you would enjoy the show much better really get into it more.

Jeremy Vickers

Itโ€™s the same show same actors, but the special effects are upgraded. You could do a poll? And then just tell everybody the poll rules. You wonโ€™t lose any viewers. Either way Trekie fans are loyal.

Jeremy Vickers

do you think that would cause an uproar me switching mid season?

Mr. Video

If you watch the original trek series on Paramount plus all the outer space and ship graphics have been updated and the phaser blasts. I think by now you sampled everything the old school had to offer. You might wanna try to sample some of the new new!

Jeremy Vickers

Group watch party? ๐Ÿ˜
