Even now I randomly get “cheer up Charlie” stuck in my head lol. Might as well watch the new wonka movie. I thought it was really cute. And no Charlie and the chocolate factory is just a modern day remake and wonka that came out last year is a prequel to the original when wonka was younger

Gene Wilder came up with the idea and no one told the children it was going to happen. Their expressions and reactions that you commented on were 100% genuine. The idea was that, from that point on, no one would know if Willy Wonka was being serious or pulling your leg, and it worked perfectly!

It is still worth watching though, then you compare the modern version with this version and they're different enough to not feel like you're watching the same film twice and it is good. People often say it's bad because they have rose tinted nostalgia goggles for the first. After that you should also watch Wonka (2023), it acts as an origin for Willy Wonka, not directly to either of the other films, but it acts on its own as well.

And the final test. When Charlie gave that candy back. I think he was looking for the kid who was not going to sell his secrets. Which comes in the mystery man. It was all a test to see who would be the best kid to take on his legacy. Now that I am seeing all this this has a great message. And that whole boat seen. As a child I was so scared of that scene. Scared the crap out of me lol. When watching this with you I was watching them get on it I was like uh oh there it is 😂😂 can’t wait for the next :)
