He's not the type of guy you'd expect Anna to be friendly with, and he's given her uncomfortable vibes in the past, but she's a nice person with an open mind. Maybe you will want her to get to know him better?

I disagree. It's much more interesting if it's realistic and the woman is seduced by someone attractive.

If you don’t want Anna having anything to do with an unattractive man, you can push her in that direction. As for the realism, I’m definitely going for realism, so it won’t be cartoonish. Sure, Anna falling in love with a disgusting man is not realistic and I have no plans to indulge that. However, Anna’s life has just been turned upside down… she is in shock that she believes her husband had some sort of affair and her spirit has been crushed… this changes her perspective on a lot of things, and suddenly, something like being admired by an unattractive man may excite her, or maybe she can use it to her advantage, or maybe she likes being obedient to older men? I’m not trying to spoil anything, I’m just justifying paths this story could go and it be fairly reasonable.

2022-10-12 09:22:51 +0000 UTCimho, I find it unbelievable attractive women find un-attractive men appealing, it just comes over as an unrealistic, disengaging fantasy of the author & audience. By 'attractive' I mean in a broad sense, not just physical, so, if this relationshp is to develop into a sexual relationship, mr crisp picker above must have something genuinely desireable about him; emotionally(maybe), financially(maybe) or (unbelivably) physically. If that's the case then, ok, Mr. Palmer certainly has the writing skills to pull it off.
