Monster Essays: Demons

So this was brought on by a lot of fan questions lately. I've been keeping a very loose log on facts I've established on the monstergirls in my ghetto goblin/modern monstergirls series. People have been asking about lore and background, and I don't like to set anything big in stone without it contributing something to the story. Stuff trickles out anyway, and someone asked for a full on essay in-universe explaining the history and traits of each species.

That felt like a bit much. What I offer you instead is a college student's sub-par report for his Interspecies Relations classes. It's MOSTLY accurate, but it's also based on stuff he found on Wikipedia and based on his personal experience with other students. It sets a lot of the details I think people want while not giving them everything like I'd prefer.

This whole thing took me like an hour, so I do plan on explaining the more prominent species in a same way over a series of these little essays. Hope  you like em and hope they explain some of your porn for you.

I think I said somewhere that demons were the first to emerge to approach humans, glad to get out of Hell and leave a good impression on humans.  So I'm starting with them...

From Hell and Back. The History of Demons

**C. Your formatting needs work, but you got the key points. Try researching further and expanding on some topics.**

According to Wikipedia, it’s been about a hundred and fifty years since demons came in contact with the humans. This was the first contact humanity had with another species more intelligent than apes (unless you believe the stuff about aliens and the pyramids), so it was kind of a big deal.

In 2010, two demons appeared near a Michigan politician’s house from a black portal. A corruptress and an emaciator, they called and politely asked them for a peaceful meeting. These two were emissaries, diplomats literally from Hell. The two calmly allowed the state representative and his wife to inspect them to prove their species under security of their bodyguards.

When it was clear that the demons were real, they told him of their request. The demons had gone through a revolution in Hell, breaking from some kind of spell that had bound them to a nightmarish world. Apparently, Hell is less of a religious location as a literally internal dimension. Intense heat, constant darkness, and rough terrain made it uninhabitable for humans, and even the demons themselves found it unpleasant as they learned about our world.

Through the powers of one of their beholder breed demons, they were able to create a portal to arrive on Earth. They were messengers pleading for permission to move into American soil or anywhere available.

Arguments were long about what became known as the Awakening over the years. Few humans are still alive from this time period and even the longer-lived races have little attachment to these days. The arguments over the Interdimensional Immigration Act went on through congress until good ol’ President Joe sealed the deal, permitting a limited amount of demons to emerge in the US. A few hundred were allowed to live in a closely monitored region in middle America, given basic supplies for housing, farming and other settling.

Demons had a hard time adapting to farming but they brough their own resources with them; magic. Humans had no understanding of most of their powers, and demons were desperate to escape their dimension. They behaved themselves under the watchful eyes of armed government agents and religious protestors who claimed it was the end of days.

More open-minded people with modern mindsets found many opportunities in their new neighbors. While their abilities varied by breed, all demons have a few beneficial traits built into them. They resist heat better than a human in a thermally protected suit, and they require less to survive over time. A slower metabolism, exceptional water processing and less demand for sleep made them excellent workers, and some of their magic users saved the lives of sick people and helped duplicate resources to keep from draining on human society.

When other countries doubted this behavior, America encouraged them to welcome their dimensional neighbors. What started as a species-based race war spread as over a few years, most countries had some established “drop zone” where demons could immigrate. Back in Hell, the demons intelligent and willing enough to come over were actively keeping their most civil members to go in first. This might be why the oni appeared in Japan, as the huge and muscular monster babes were relatively late to come out to avoid intimidating people. Studies are still out on why they resemble Earth beliefs so much, but it’s probably because of ancient meetings with each other.

Demons were under a lot of pressure to make a good first impression. I think that’s why so many demons I know are super polite and careful around people. They’re careful not to poke you with their horns or tails, and they made a strong impression with their use of healing magic. Most people think that it was during the outbreak of wildfires in England during 2015 that demons sealed their position in the world, using their immunity to the flames to rescue hundreds of trapped humans.

As a whole, demons are externally similar but anatomically very different from humans. They share their resistances and abilities listed earlier by being technically more magical than biological. Studies show that demons may have evolved from magic in the sense that humans evolved from bacteria, though they have much more tangible forms after centuries of physical living. Dissections have found that while demons eat and breathe, some of them possess no lungs, stomach, liver, and so on with no clear explanation. This makes them difficult to treat medically, but their natural resistance to such issues keeps these risks to a minimum.

Demons have several “breeds,” sort of like how a dog can be a husky or a Pomeranian or a human can be black or white. With Hell as harsh as it is, these differences tend to be more surprising. Here are a few breeds of demon known to us:

-emaciators. A regular demon you’d see in a cartoon or deviantart. Colorful skin, probably horns and tails. They tend to be skinnier than humans by nature, finding it difficult to put on any weight. They possess slightly better senses, including night vision.

-oni. Taller and muscular creatures. Oni are not as bulky as ogres and cyclops, leaning towards athletic strength and slightly more monstrous looks.

-beholders. One-eyed demons with a penchant for magic. They tend to be very thin or very thick for some reason, as well as longer, thinner horns.

-imps. The chihuahuas of demons. Imps can fly, whether by wings or magic, and are a couple feet tall, standing barely bigger than fairies. They were usually messengers back in Hell, because they tend to get around pretty quickly.

-corruptor. What we’d normally call succubus or incubus. Corruptors are naturally sexy, attractive in faces and curves. They normally possess wings and can literally eat sex! No wonder they sent one as a diplomat to Earth.

-gluttons. Big fat demons. They’re stronger than they look, but are slow and clumsy. Their stomachs are supposedly bottomless, though they actually need just as much food as any other demon. They just have a larger capacity for food and water, so they can go even longer.

-Djinns. Darker colored demons resembling Indian interpretations. They have natural fire magic, which makes them wear little clothing to avoid burns and because they are constantly warmer than even other demons.

By now, demons have reported that every single one of their race has come over to Earth. They enjoy warmer places and hot foods, making a more manageable reminder of their homeland without all the suffering. Demons see Earth as a paradise and are an everyday part of life by now. Despite early fears, demons have shown no urge or ability to take human souls.

The biggest difference that demons made was that during the later years of their immigration, other species began to reveal themselves. When humans showed they could accept demons into their homes, goblins emerged as the second race to reveal themselves. The process began again as more and more pours out, making the multicultural and really hot world that we know today.

Comments

essentially today. alternate timeline and modern present day style world. maybe stuff took longer to develop to this level because of unknown monster sabotage and thievery.

So does this mean all your stories in this universe are set in the sort of distant future? I always got the impression it was now-ish, just a different world.
