Snail Diaries #281!!

Anyone else constantly doin' a hypochondriac by proxy? I have to always remind myself my wobbly cat tends to wobble, and that's ok.
But this week Brebby has been sick so I've been super stressed. I think the safe food I've been giving them for years changed the recipe cause suddenly Salad won't touch it and B-Man throws it up, he can't balance when he gets sick (or any other time) so I have to hold him steady or he gets covered in it. And he's had a bad herpes flare up!! A gooey mess of a boy. I switched to a new food and it's going really well tho, he's back to his old self... :')

Anyways, super short comic cause I'm out of town this weekend, helping my friend who's learning to drive make a long trip home. Safety first! Luckily my cat sitter is the best, so I know the kitties will be in good hands!! But a snail can't help but worry....

My eighteen year old baby cat Felix, I Jostle him every twenty minutes to check if he's breathing and remind him to live! I get so worried about him eating I sprinkle his food with bonito flakes to make sure he can smell it. And so on and so forth 🖤

Ohh my goodness. Thank you for all your hard work with Leonard, sounds like its really paying off! I know how stressful and exhausting it can be. Hang in there!! And oh my gosh with bird flu you must be terrified. I know I am and I don't even work with birds :(( That's a ton of stress!!

Healing thoughts for B-Man ❤️! My nearly 14 yo boy, Leonard, has stage 3 kidney disease & hypertension. He's actually doing well, nearly 9 month post-diagnosis (he's sitting on my shoulder, purring in my ear rn) but hoo boy. I'm always anxious! He's on so many meds & supplements, gets home sub q fluids, & I feel like if he acts even a little off I spiral! It's rough. I'm right there w you. I also work at a chicken sanctuary & am constantly worrying about the birds. Lots of elderly residents, we're losing people with some regularity now, & my medical anxiety is off the charts ngl ❤️❤️❤️

Melissa Swanson

He was the best! Also had the weirdest and therefore best name ever (rescue named him) - Brocket. Still have no idea what a brocket even is and never heard of another pet called that!

Phoebe

I hope he gets better, a sick cat is so stressful. After my last kitty didn't get better I get so worried about my current one anytime they do something different 😫

Nugget

Lololol I love that sick bman has a mean mug going on

Ray M

My heart cat, Derek, has FIV. Anytime he looks SLIGHTLY off I'm a mess. He's my boy and must live forever

My senior dog has real anxiety and health problems BUT he has also learned to fake some symptoms for attention so my husband is constantly worried he's on the brink of death and I always have to be like "okay, leave the room and let's see if he keeps doing it when you're not here fretting and he's not thinking he's about to get pity treats." 90% of the time he stops as soon as my husband turns his head away. 😂

Liam

His name is Boogie! He is the sweetest little orange man. I think he and B-man would be best friends (they can bond over their shared love of churu). They legally have to live to 100, it’s in my court orders.

Eggie

They really have us questioning everything! 😂 He sounds like the sweetest old man. Cats are so wonderful. He said, yup I’m retired now, turned in my gun 😤

When my OAP kitty got really up there (he ended up living to over 20 years old) he became more and more snuggly. It was pretty dramatic as he'd been an aloof mousecatcher his whole life... Eventually he went from barely letting you stroke him to getting on your lap for cuddles. Anyway, every time he unlocked a new cuddly behaviour I'd convince myself it was because he was dying. Reading all that scary stuff about drastic behaviour change. In reality he just felt like a cuddle in his old age and had years of lap-sitting in him yet lol

Phoebe

Awww another wobbler!!! What’s their name?? They’re the best… we just want them to live for 98 years, I don’t think we’re asking too much 😔

Little Tunny

MEEEEE ME ME ME MEEEE THIS IS ME!!!! My partner always tells me I worry too much about my (also wobbly) cat.

Eggie

Exactly! I can't read minds and definitely not the minds of the lumps!!

DawnSnowe

Oh my gosh yeah I totally get it! My dog Huey used to get lumps like that as well. I’d fondle them in a worry like every day 😂 of course the vet had already told me they’re benign but… WHAT IF THE LUMPS CHANGED THEIR MIND!?

Little Tunny

I feel this with my senior dogs!! One is 11 the other 10 (5 year old as well but he's spry of course) and the oldest always had allergies and the like so trying not to look too far into things she's always had issues with (grass, fleas, etc.) but also monitoring so closely for anything new that needs to be looked at. And my 10 year old heeler mix got the lipoma gene so always checking his lumps neurotically lol
