This isnt a spoiler. At least as far as I have seen. But I'm pretty damn sure Gojo does in fact like Utahime and he didn't want to tell her so he was just bullshit. I don't know how many video games you play but I'm going to use video game mechanics for this example. Defense in JJK uses cursed energy. And in terms of game mechanics it kinda works like an armor rating that subtracts the rating from the damage. So if you have an "armor rating" of 10, an attack that only does 8 dmg wouldn't get through your defenses. Therefore it's much better in most circumstances to do one concentrated strong hit than 2 weaker hits. Jujutsu sorcerors are NOT superhuman in durability, pretty much anything that would kill a normal human would kill them... IF it can get through their cursed energy reinforcement. So say itadori does 7 dmg from his physical strength, and another 7 from the cursed energy of divergent fist. He'd not really be doing anything to that hypothetical 10 armor. If he managed to land both at the same time however, he'd be doing 14 dmg, finally piercing that 10 defense. (This is all simplified but you get the idea).
