Vore Defense Prototype (Fixed some bugs)

Edit: Made some bug fixes.

Hey there,

I think it's time to share my new little side project.

There's currently only one level and I really can't tell if the level is too hard or too easy. Also the UI is not quite responsive as of now. Just look at it as a prototype.

How to play:

Currently there's a timer of 15 minutes. If you don't win after 15 minutes the game is over. Upgrades for your "troops" or "defenses" are not yet available.

Also there's a button in the settings to disable the snake vore scenes if you dislike them.

im confused early game the liamas seem insanely strong against you the player with the fact that they have a multi pass through ranged attack feels a little unfair but i also dont play tower defense games so i could totally not understand unit placement and orders

gave it a go. when i found out only enemy units eat the girls, i realized there isnt really any reason to win unless you are just competitive. if you are planning on adding preds to the human side aswell, it would give more drive to do well and win. otherwise, the game is decently fun, and the units are pretty balanced. the crossbows might have a bit too much range, but having to use all the units to win was a smart design.

I absolutely love this so much and am honestly stoked to see this one progress, maybe even more than Sabrina's, but to be real, your sprite work has gotten so good, its probably the best in the community, which has me even more excited to see what other creatures and units you'll add! Personally, I'd love to see some internals, maybe for the "girl eaten counter" but that's just my opinion ;p Also, a pause and speed up button would be greatly appreciated!!!

OK, so I tried the bug fixed version and here's my thoughts: it is doable and I managed to beat it with 6 minutes to spare but now I think too many enemies spawn. If it wasn't for the spam of archers and tanks it would impossible when you have 5 enemies or more attacking at once. Crossbows helped buy time as well. My recommendations is reduce a bit the numbers of enemies spawned quickly (you could try going for patterns when the game develops more) and lower the cost of pikes to 50 again. For the rest it should be fine for now

Thanks! I put in a lot of effort into the animatioms and finding fitting sounds took some time too. Of course this first prototype is not balanced yet. The archers are quite strong and I tried to weaken them by making the tornados absorb arrows. Turned out to be too much of a nerf to the archers. Nevertheless thank yoi for your detailed post. It definitely helps a lot:D

Tank girls aren't tanky enough to meat shield either, due to the slow movement speeds and the fact snakes lock onto their target, which I should've specified. If you spawn one tank and then pikes, the tank will take a lot of damage before the pikes can kill the first snake. If you spawn pike then tank then pikes, a pike will die before the snake changes target to the tank. Building mono pikes is actually about as successful, if not more, than building any mix of tanks/shields. One or two tanks to every dozen spears might be fine, but the point is they're still basically irrelevant. Stacking enough damage to just oneshot every foe is still the only real goal.

Tank gals aren't meant to be a high dps unit, they're meant to be the meat shield unit that absorbs attacks for the other units. They do block the lamia's magic, it's just that there is a bug currently that makes the archer gals take the lamia magic damage even when there's a tank blocking the attack. Reccomend using the pike gals if you do end up using the shield gals for now till the next update to this game.

Love your animations and audio, really top tier stuff. Lovely little side project, might be really special with a handful more units and upgrades on both sides. A fair number of small bugs or balance issues to note in the early demo however: Game freezes if you try to start a second run after 'return to main menu', whether I win or lose. Music doesn't loop properly, so it just stops after a bit. Tank girls currently mostly useless, as they are the most expensive unit with the least dps and do not block lamia magic. Game is currently absurdly easy to snowball - literally just build only archers and you'll win in about 3 minutes with zero losses, as you wont encounter any lamia and you'll stack up enough archers to just kill every snake as fast as they spawn. This also makes pikes almost entirely useless, because they'll struggle to actually reach the enemy before archers kill them, and if you start losing (because you built non-archers), then pikes will die as soon as they get into melee with stacked snakes. I think, overall, movement could be faster/damage could be lower for all units, so melee units are just generally more viable on both sides. Alternatively, make archers much more expensive, so they're a valuable resource you want to try stack up while protecting them rather than a unit so strong it can be spammed and protect itself. Possibly make it so archers cant shoot in point blank either. Spawning Lamia earlier would help, but they'll still die to snowballed archers, and a single (working) tank girl plus mono archer spam would still be a steamroll. Would love to see more of this project!

Btw, as a suggestion, you should nerf the digestion healing a bit and either lower the attack speed of the snakes or their damage. Because if a snake start digesting a girl, it will always regenerate way faster than any almost any amount of troops can hit it.

Welp, gave it a try. Fun little game. The bugs I found include the already mentioned lamia tornado attacking the archers behind even when covered and that sometimes when I restart a round the game stop working and I can't open any menu. Would like to see it expanded with new units and mechanics, although not at the cost of taking too much time over Sabrina's game development. Speaking of, when will next update of Sabrina will be released?

Great stuff! Tried it out and noticed a bug already so gonna let ya know about it. I assume the tank gals are meant to stop the lamias' attacks from passing through your entire force, but the archer gals still get damaged from the lamia's attacks even when there is a tank stopping the tornado animation from reaching them.

ME LIKE. Hope we get upgrade options, and magic casters on the girls side, and maybe some other preds on the pred side like frog girls, harpies.

Nice! Love the sprite animations :P There is a way to win quickly before the lamias show up. The real game is getting the lamia animation before the snakes get the girls! Great stuff!
