Hayley and Roger attend a fourth of July barbeque with friends and have a wonderful day. Savoring the start of summer as a time to get outdoors and enjoy the good weather, it was great to enjoy an array of food and games during the day and relax together to watch a movie at night. Tabitha, Ayyla and Daisy’s mother, provided her truck for use alongside Roger’s projector. The friends laid out on blankets and sat in chairs as they watched a drama, a new release that the crew was dying to see.

The cinematography laid out before them had most of the friends hooked. Claryssa and Manny hung back, chatting some with Betty as the night went on. Darlene and Floyd also became distracted as well, enjoying one another’s company more than the film flashing before them.

But the movie does come to a close and eventually both friends and family are back to idle chatter. “Take some of these, they’re extra from a few years ago.” Daisy says, handing out glow-sticks for the end of the night. One last event was scheduled, a city-wide display that was sure to make a perfect end to a perfect holiday.

A bright flash and a loud crack turns people’s heads, Darlene calling out ‘Look!’ to the party. Fireworks boom in the sky, a spectacular array of bright flashes, patriotic colors and exciting shapes light up the dark night. Everyone gazes at the show, pops and bangs echoing of the downtown buildings for several minutes.

Hayley and all of her friends smile at the display. They make it a point each year to have at least one summer party, and it would be a waste not to get together on a few more casual occasions before Fall returns. With a few heartfelt goodbyes, the friends pack up their belongings once the fireworks end and make a promise to see one another again soon.
