Mod Updates

Hey all! Two great releases are now active on Nexus Mods!

1. I released a Firebolt Fireball mod. Want that Firebolt to be a Fireball, without the spell point requirement? Now you can have it! https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/10193

2. Polymath 2.5 is now out, with a widget for creating mods of existing spells (that you edit before packaging). I already have a rough draft of a script for a short video on using it, and hope to have it released in a few days. https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/6318

Yeah, I figured. No worries though. I will just put my modding endeavor on the back burner. Mostly because if I go through all this effort and the official tools get released and it turns out it would have vastly saved me time, it would leave a sour taste in my mouth and I would lose all motivation. But in any event, I'll just take a break from BG3 all together so I don't get burned out and come back to it with Patch 7. Thank you for checking. Have a great Summer

No problem, happy to have long messages. Sadly, it would likely take too much time for me to create a custom status at this time (I would need to create a widget, figure out how to make it work with class mods and generally, then test it and ensure it broadly works). Fortunately, I have previously collected the status effect entries (refer to data/status_table.xlsx). For you, I would suggest starting with a spell that causes a status effect. Then download a mod where someone has a spell that causes a status effect and unpackage it (seeing how they code the txt file in the Stats folder). Then edit it to do something basic (so one status effect that is easy to see, like making them big) to ensure it works. Then you can customize it more. Apologies that I can no longer support the software. I know quite a few people have found the software and its continued development helpful

I already posted a long message on your latest Youtube video and I don't want to make it even longer so I will just drop it here. I've encountered a hiccup in my journey to create a mod. Seems that I am being a little more ambitious than I expected. I am super close in creating an item when worn will generate a custom resource point in which after a certain amount is accrued, I want to enable a Transformation Action giving the PC the ability to transform into a Dragonborn (which will be a placeholder for a temporary draconic armor mesh). The problem is, when I go to make the spell, 1) there is no field for me to add Spell Properties and 2) I need to create a Custom Status which PolyMath can't do. I tried to make do with a Passive but it seems Passives are more for equipment or classes. I know this was your last version until the official mod tools come out in Sept. but would coding a "Create Custom Status" feature be too cumbersome to include? If so, then no worries. If it would take more than a day, then this feature is not worth adding at this point in time. I don't want inconvenience you with this. So I'll just wait until September and then we can revisit this idea when the official mod tools come out. In either case, I hope you have a great summer.

At long last, I have finally finished my first campaign of Baldur's Gate 3. 412 hours of gameplay. I can now focus on modding so I will be using PolyMath to create a new Subclass. It will be based off a homebrew Warlock subclass where the Patron is a Dragon: https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-LciQv7qGJmvabF3Q_UQ I think I recall you mentioning that you were going to take a long break to focus on work and family so more power to you. If I encounter any problems, I will ensure I check with your Youtube video guides first before pestering you. lol Enjoy your time with your family and good luck at the new job!
