About 23 years ago, I was kindly charged with drawing a “postrecording report” manga for Kempuu Denki Berserk.

Miura: I’m Miura.
Cool guy !!
Miura-sensei

This led me to have a great opportunity to meet Miura-sensei.


Though he was very busy, I was allowed to visit his workshop

Awesome bookcases
Notebook of rough sketches
Tons of drawing materials
The sketches of armors are awesome
There are many drawings


Shimada: Momose’s armor is well-drawn, Ken-chan said.

Momose: Really?

That’s (too) kind for such a small panel.
Thank you very much
It was hard to draw the armor so I’m happy.


He kindly told me about many things:

About what he likes
Including the music of Hirasawa Susumu.
Miura: I always listen to it while working.

About movies
Miura: You like SW?
Momose: When I was in middle school, I wanted to go to USC when I grew up.
Miura: Ohhhh

His shiny expression like that of a boy was impressive.

When I visited the event celebrating Berserk’s big hit

Miura-sensei’s talk corner,
Live dubbing from the voice actors,
Hirasawa Susumu’s mini live
Etc.

Momose: I enjoyed the talk show.
Miura: Thank you.
No, it was nothing much.

Note: He literally says “I’m ashamed of it”, but it’s an expression to show modesty.

Momose: This is my husband.
Husband: I’m her husband.
Miura: Ohhh, I see.

I introduced my husband, who loves Berserk, to him.

Husband: Please give me an autograph
Husband: Please draw Guts (for me)

Momose: H-hey!!
Momose: What a rash request!!

Miura: Ah-
Momose: Sorry! Sorry!
Momose: He is really boldfaced…

Miura: Right now I don’t even have any tool with me.
Miura: So (I’ll do it) when I have time
Momose: I know you have no time at all so please don’t strain yourself!!!

However, half a year after, through the editor

Editor: Momose… you should be really thankful to Kentarou-sensei.

It was during the new year holiday, after year end events were over.

He gave us a superb drawing of Guts with his autograph.
Momose: Miura-sensei!!
It was addressed to my husband and me.
And there was a cute Kuri Puck with the autograph.
