A little while ago I posted what I believe is the first published painting of Kentarou Miura. Today I'm sharing the first published painting he did of Guts (although it looks more like a charcoal drawing). It's quite rare because it was only published in a special issue of Animal House and never reprinted afterwards.
Said issue was dedicated to Miura and featured both the entirety of Ourou (King of Wolves), which he did with writer Buronson, and the Berserk prototype. It's dated October 10, 1989, but its actual release date may very well have been earlier, as Animal House issues typically released two months before their cover date. It served to recap Ourou before the tankōbon came out as well as to hype up Berserk before its proper debut in the magazine.
The other side of the poster is an illustration from Ourou, and there are also color pages at the beginning of the manga that few have likely seen. The cover and back are both illustrations from Ourou, showing Iba (the protagonist) and Genghis Khan.
