Work has started on Harem Hotel v0.4!

Phew, okay... Where do I start?

Prelude
v0.3 was admittedly too ambitious for me. In all honesty I should have paced myself better. Introducing 7 Submission Training scenes for each girl on top of everything else that was planned was a bit too much. I think they turned out great and those scenes are definitely something I want to expand on, but at the same time I believe I should have kept those scenes to the first four girls and probably should have kept the number to around 5 Submission Training scenes for them. This would have made the game come out at least a week earlier, and saved me from so much stress. The good news though is that I now know my limits.

Near the end of v0.3 is when I started working on story events, which in hindsight, was a bad idea. I had already begun to get stressed and overworked at that point so it became increasingly hard for me to become creative. Knowing this, I'll be making the story much earlier on in development, in fact, I already have almost every story event written out. Even some for v0.5! Instead of creating the story during development I have begun making the story in my time off between updates. Now I get to focus on the technical stuff such as scene making and coding.

What will be in v0.4?
To preface, v0.4 isn't planned to be as big as other updates. But there's a reason for this! v0.4 and beyond is planned to come out much faster than every other update. This doesn't mean you'll be getting less content, this means you'll be getting the same amount of content per time spent developing it. An example would be: I had spent 2 months making v0.3, so you got two months worth of time in content. v0.4 is planned to come out faster, which means you'll be getting smaller more frequent updates. In the grand scheme of things, I think this is a better design philosophy. Patrons pay by the month, not per update. I feel as though they should be getting something for that. 

It should be noted that roughly 10 - 20% of this update will go towards remaking old scenes and animations. This includes remaking old story, especially for Lin. Those kitchen scenes suck.

Now for the contents.

Story wise, I plan for there to be 2 - 3 story events per character. In past updates, old characters would get around 3 - 5 (usually 4) story events each, with new characters getting 14 - 16 story events.

Training scene wise... It's a bit hard to say at the moment. Adding to already existing training scenes isn't a priority this update, neither is adding new ones. Felicity & Emma don't have much going for them in that department because they're not in a state where that would make sense. After all, it's not like Felicity is going to be willing to have sex with you at the beach just yet. Emma has already begun warming up to you in her story, so I thought it made plenty of sense to add those two Exhibitionism training scenes. So before I add more to them, they'll first need to advance in their story, but I don't want to rush things.


And now for the biggest things planned for v0.4 - The little things


The little things can add a lot of depth to game. I want to make the game feel more alive, more like the girls are in a real world. To do this, I want to add variation in what they do on a day to day basis. I'll be adding multiple positions for a girl to be in inside her room (Sitting on her bed, standing up, on her computer, etc etc). I also want to add more to the 'hangout' scenes, such as the Utility Room hangout scenes. Right now, they hang around in that room and don't do much (unless you have two specific traits ;) ). I would like to add some variation to that, such as random things they would say. Who knows, maybe you'll be able to learn a thing or two about them this way. Adding on to that, I would like to add more places for hangout scenes, such as the Hot Springs and Lobby. I think it would be very cool to see a girl hanging out in the lobby on your way to visit another girl. Maybe they'll even wear a little less if you have the exhibitionist trait!
Or maybe they'll wear some outfits you bought for them.

Of course, the Android still needs some lewd action in the shower, but there's also plans on putting in a restroom for all you pervs who want to watch a girl pee.

More spy cam pics are also planned! Especially those relating to traits. Does Kali have the exhibitionist trait? Maybe she'll feel like hanging out nude... Or maybe your Android is a Nympho? She may start relieving some pent up energy... 

And lets not forget about making those traits more meaningful! Have Paizuri Star for Android? Maybe her breasts will expand to ungodly proportions.  Does Maria have the Nympho and Exhibitionist trait? Maybe she'll ask for a fuck against the wall in the lobby. Have the In Love trait? Maybe you'll be able to sleep with them for the night.

There are also plans for a "Hang Out" option for each girl. This will take up a time slot, but will raise affection. Maybe along the lines you guys will start fucking? Of course this will be based on traits. Or maybe you'll just give her a hug.

Remaking old events is a must now, especially Lin's. Her early kitchen scenes don't do much at all, and I'd like to add flavor to them. And I would like to remake all of the bad looking events with poor lighting and angles, as well as remaking the old animated sex scenes with more frames. I'll also be including the 4 current outfits for each girl on most of these events (However, 4 outfits for a blowjob scene isn't very worthwhile as the focus is on their heads and not their bodies or what they're wearing.) The first impression of a game is vital for new players to get hooked which is the main reason I made the new intro.

Of course, it needs to be stated not everything I've mentioned is guaranteed to be in game. I can easily decide for one reason or another to cut out some content, or even add more.

When will v0.4 release?
I'd like to shoot for mid October - Early November. But this new design philosophy remains untested. It could come out sooner just as easily as it could come out later. But as always, it'll be ready when it's ready :)

v0.5 and beyond...
I have many plans I want to introduce. A big feature I want to add is, put simply, side character events. Upon befriending side characters linked to the main character's story, they may hang out in your hotel. Who knows, maybe you'll get to have some fun with Lin's sister in the dungeon!  

And as a general idea for the future, I plan for there to be more training scenes, more outfits, more toys, and of course more story.
