After Show: First Walkman.

Oh gosh I hope it works...

After Show: First Walkman.

Comments

after i repaired it for the 10th time i completely broke it so now rip walkman that never worked

Literally everyone who owned one and used it more than once can attest to that.

This video made me a ELO fan

i have one but the belt break

clean the heads.

I have a WM-FX407 from 1994 pretty cheap off ebay and all I had to do was buy new belts and it sounds really nice, Dolby NR B and all. Next Walkman if I buy one will probably be one of the 20th anniversary ones from 1999, as they have everything you could want on a portable cassette, they're very small and it's just before sony started really cheaping out on the sound.

I see they still haven’t learned to name things

frank 2: the destroyer of worlds

every time frank disturbs the video I am just DELIGHTED

She sounds like she needs a new belt and the head cleaned. But getting that working is cracking. Especially if you got a good deal.

I managed to get my own walkman a few years ago. Really happy I managed to get my hands on one

I had the very similar-looking MF-F2015; and it was utterly bullet proof. Dearer than the 3-band EQ and auto-reversing Toshiba it replaced, BUT the door didn't fall off, and there was a more satisfying thunk to the controls. But then your mate comes back from a trip to Japan with a Walkman that's literally the size of a cassette itself, all metal and shiny and yours immediately feels like a cave painting. Man I loved that thing though.

I was given a Walkman recently that didn’t work. I managed to fix it. I might sell it idk.

I have a wm bf23, these things came out in 1988, I love it, it came relatively clean, but yeah, over time cassettes will simply not sound as good. I have a cutting crew cas from 1986, I can tell someone listened the hell out of it.

You should take a look at the Sony wh1000mx5 I like to see a video on them and your opinion of the new design and noise canceling and maby compare them to the mx4 and other headphones

great now MD prices are gonna go brrrrrrrr

Get a Sony MD R50 or similar, mini disk player. it is literally on part and often better than most PC sound cards, notebooks and dongles and beats the PSP frequently. Dont buy pre recorded NEW MDs albums because at least some seem to use older professional mass-recorders seem which turn out to be less good than a hifi setup where you just plug in the pc to the line-in of the MD recorder/player and the headphones into the MD player if you dont want to wait for the recording to finish and it is just unbelievable good, when you find out that end result is better than what you heard when recording.

Yeah man lol. Have you ever tried flash modding an ipod that just refuses to take and reformatted ad infinitum? Or how about the delicateness of the ribbon cables? Its about the same just different lol

A lot less complex - ever had to format a belt? Anyhow many 90s Walkmans are cool as hell >:/

When Sony released the TPSL2 in Europe, they called it the “Stowaway”, changing to “Walkman” in later iterations. I worked in a little independent electrical shop at the time, we couldn’t understand why anyone would want a tape “recorder” that wouldn’t record- especially for a hundred quid! Then we plugged in the headphones, and it started to make sense. I borrowed one overnight, and feeling a little self conscious, strapped it to my belt and put on the headphones to walk to the bus stop. Some lads in a passing car made a point of slowing down to laugh at me. Embarrassed, I remember thinking “well these will never catch on…”

90s walkmans are generally the ones to go for, even if they're the ugliest by far. Dolby NR is practically mandatory to get the best overal listening experience imo, but it's super worth it! So long as you accept that every unit you buy will absolutely need new belts, ebay has them in spades and its no more complex than an ipod flash mod
