What’s the difference between the og AKG k240s and the new ones?

Dank I'd really recommend to test "Teufel Audio" at some point, I'd love to hear your opinion about them. I got myself the "Massive" which are porpusely made for DJ's to use in Nightclubs, they are very bass heavy and a bit bat in the top ends. And the "Cage 2" Gaming Headset which I also use for listening to music because I like how detailed they are and how much good balanced bass you can get out of them, also they are well built and fit very nice. No issues wearing them for 3 Hours. But Teufel has more to offer and for the money I got these I think it was a bargain, i bought them directly from "Teufel". If you never heard of Teufel, they are qualitywise what Bose used to be in their good days but slightly cheaper (just slightly). Teufel is the benchmark of good sound to the masses here. What I mean is, probably there are better brands like Meze, but Teufel Audio is a Name in Europe which nearly everyone at least in the German speaking area knows for really decent audio Equipement I hope you read this and maybe give them a try I'd really like to hear your opinion about them

i got a pair of koss porta pros, usually i hate headphones that go on my ear, but these are light and cool, on walks during summer they dont get too hot, and they are loud enough to go trhough a wool hat during cold winters, negative 20 or so celcius. sure there are probably better but these work for me

That recording was insanely bassy indeed :' ) They're not THAT bassy. I don't have experience with the others in that line, but K712 has wonderfully deep smooth and detailed bass, and it doesn't get in the way of anything else. They do like an amp, the whole sound gets considerably more alive and vibrant. Prior to that i used K142hd (discontinued model), which i still have. their sound sucks. : )

Its a shame that Sennheiser stopped making the HD40 earphones. I had a pair for years until the headphone cable cacked it. They were as light as a gnat's fart, but I really liked the sound. And now Sennheiser doesn't make anything like them. :(

it's funny, you are always saying the grado's bleed a ton; a while back I was working a small play and the booth was right next to the audience, and the sound tech was using grado sr60s was his monitoring headphones, probably not the best choice for monitoring headphones

The AKG K240s are seriously some of my favourite sounding headphones ever, I really wish I had a pair.

I have been using my porta pros for the last 10 years EVERY SINGLE DAY and I absolutely love them. Yes they rip your hair out and they feel a little cheap but in my opinion they are overall great headphones for the prize, and they didn't die yet. So yeah, good headphones ;D (also normalizing them with auto eq or wavelet improves the sound quite a bit)

Oi mate, any plans on reviewing the AKG K361 and K371, these have been the darling of the budget audiophile community for a while AND worth checking out to see what Samsung did, eh?

MDRs are usually cheaper than Beyers but you can't go wrong with either. Sennies HD280 Pro are also nice but they look very funny on your head, even compared to the Sonys and Beyers

Seeing the AKG K50, it makes me wonder if you'd go on a bit of a hunt for the vintage Beyerdynamic DT-48. One thing catches my eyes on the DT-48.... 5 ohms. Not 50. Five ohms. Also, I think you could have a look at the Roland RH-300 headphones. There's not much reviews on them, and seems there are some comments on head-fi saying that they are like "ATH-M50, but more balanced sounding." Not sure on what they meant, but it could be something to look at.

Started out with the good old Dirty Buds and mostly mediocrely bad headphones in my household then when the pandemic hits I picked up some JBL Live 400BT's and they smashed the Dirty Buds during the time I use them for a while, picked up some SHP9500's from Philips later on and wow the clarity was sooooo much better then the Jay Bee's and then a few months past and I purchased my first proper cans the HD 560S's from Sennheiser's and they were a noticeable step up from both sound and comfort compared to the Philips. Though I'm currently craving to try some Sony MDR-7506's or maybe the the Meze 99's someday whenever I can afford either one of them!

I got my first pair of "proper" headphones a few weeks ago - AKG K240 Sextetts. I thought I was buying regular K240s, but I lucked out an the eBay listing turned out to be for the sextetts. I need to plug them into my amp to run them, but they are excellent.

I love my creeky M50Xes. During lockdown feeling I was on a pirate ship was a feature not a bug. Also loving my SR80s since as you say the 60s are now unfindable.

I'm surprised i didn't see any Hifimans there. Maybe you could have a look at their HE400, i have the 2020 version and for the money (got them for 200$ us) they are absolutely amazing!

I actually bought some akg k712 pro recently. They look, feel and sound great. Not cheap but also not heaps expensive. I use them for gaming, listening to music, talking in conferences and they excel at that. I recommend a bass boost but that’s just me.

Welp, got a bootleg headphone that uses the frame of that cheapo Sonys you've shown. Yanked the drivers out, placed better ones and used cheap Grado L-cush for its padding. It's fine as a daily beater.

The Patrons are officially treated to more than 30 seconds of the Headphone Test song. Yes, I know there’s a name, but we all know it as the Headphone Test song.

I'm using the m50x right now. I would NOT recommend them for people with larger adult heads. Shallow ear cups meant I had to replace the pads and I don't even have large nor sticky out ears. The tight head headband had to be modded by dismantling and cutting out strips of the foam they stuck to the top of the spring steel AND some of the foam above that JUST so I could bend the steel open a bit wider. To do all that I had to unstitch the headband cover which I have not bothered to repair. All in all they are probably fine now, but I would never buy another pair. I would never have bought them if my Sennheisers (HD something old, I forget) had not died from over a decade of heavy daily wear and tear. The m50x are okay sound wise, but I will be spending my money more wisely in future.

What is your opinion on V-Moda headphones? I've got both the M100s and the LP2s, the M100 are my DJ cans and the LP2 are my main heaphones for casual listening. I've also got ATH-M50s (the original ones with undetachable coiled cable), and while they sound amazing, the squeaky noises from the hinges are pretty annoying. Also, they feel quite heavy after just a few minutes. The LP2s, I could listen to music for hours and forget I even wear them on my head. Plus, the build quality is amazing!

You should hit up a good shoe cobbler or shoemaker for those broken ear cups! Actually a long tradition of those folks in Australia. They’re often very experienced leatherworkers and are totally amenable to that kind of work. If you need help finding one, let me know and I’ll find out who’s good in Australia. You just need to see who’s confident enough to repair damage on luxury vintage footwear and they’ll whip up something for you in a jiffy.

I watched this video while wearing a pair of AKGs, I bought a cheap pair of N700 NCM2's, and they're pretty good in my opinion, obviously not the absolute best you can get, but hey, they were what I could afford and I really like them (they're a hell of a lot better than the Turtle beach pair I was using prior, lol.)

Funny how we all hear things differently. I absolutely prefer the Koss KPH30i and KSC75 over the Samson. The Samson's have better staging, but the upper midrange and treble feels more grainy to me I can't get into them the same as the KSC75. Audio really is something we all come to appreciate in our own ways! Awesome collection!
