Added 2019-10-02 02:04:01 +0000 UTCI've become fascinated with a confectioner for the 1700s named Nicolas Appert. He won contest to preserve food run by the French government. This is the beginning of canning and tinting and your can of tuna fish is its direct descendant.
He is also weirdly known for inventing chicken Kiev.
I guess candy makers can do anything. :)
I'm still trying to find out more about his confectionery business
