Art Tip: Rotating A Cube in Space

Happy Art Tip Tuesday everyone.

Here's a reference of some cubes in various angles and rotations. I would also call this a suggested practice since you can repeat what I did here as an exercise to better understand how to draw basic shapes in perspective. I used a cube in this example, but you can do this exercise with any form.

When I would have trouble drawing certain body parts, I would sometimes draw them as basic shapes and try rotating them like in the example. It can be tricky, but it's a worthwhile practice.

As always, feel free to ask questions or request new tip topics.

Thanks!

No problem. If you're on the discord, feel free to dm me for a quicker reply. No worries though, just thought I'd offer.

Thanks. It's helpful to know what internal tools are used. Like when you see someones eyes dart a little and you know they just did some brain work :D

I think about the vanishing point. As it rotates, the position of the vanishing point changes. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, but it's good to know where the vanishing point moves to angle the edges.

When you draw these are you thinking about the vanishing point or just constructing from 'what looks correct' ?
