Art Tip: Types of Shadows

Here's some notes on shadows. Form shadows are soft when the form is round and cast shadows are hard. There can be soft cast shadows under certain conditions, which I can cover later. I usually make the artistic choice to have cast shadows be hard when they are on a figure, but sometimes I'll soften them if I think it works better.
Contact shadows are often overlooked but adding it in brings a lot to the render if you ask me. It's a subtle thing that makes a difference.
