A New Start - Game Build: 0.6.0.0 (Demo Beta)

Hey everyone! Hetros here! It's been a long bit since our last chat, but I figured that it was better to go a bit silent until we had something to show.

We are currently working on getting everything cleaned up, making the UI look snazzier, and generally getting things set up properly.

When I first made my announcement back in April, things I thought were set in stone became more quicksand like, the programmer I said we had then left due to certain international employment/contracting laws that would have been breached by them being employed by us, and work continued slowly with Duke taking time off to get things sorted while we searched for a new programmer. In the end we found Addy Fo, who has been a blessing and a breath of fresh air on the project.

This has lead to our current build, which you will notice is shorn of a great deal of the original content. For that reason, for the time being, we have released the last, finalized, free build of the old JRPG-level-including game on our front page link. Reporting bugs from it will not be helpful, but you will at least still be able to access old content until we remove that build from circulation as this one becomes more finalized.

We are still planning to get something on Steam going, but it's taking longer than expected. Thankfully, the changes over the last few months have insured that we are no longer operating under the sword of damocles, and no longer have the deadline that was announced previously, and can continue for as long as you support us for the forseeable future.

This new build is smaller yes, but we hope it will give our users an idea of how we plan to change the game, refocus, and rebuild it into something more army and kingdom and story focused, than the old JRPG combat systems. Many of you I am sure truly enjoyed those systems, and if you feel you can no longer support us from this point after trying the new build, we perfectly understand.

The changes that were previously announced for patronage levels will be going active next Monday, to give everyone plenty of time to decide on what they wish to do.

In the meantime, thank you so much for your support up until now, and we hope you enjoy the new game. To install it, please use the file attached to this post, and then unzip it into a folder. Please make sure that you follow the notes below, and erase all previous saved games before running this program, or at least move them to another file location under a different name. The new build is completely incompatible with the old save files, and WILL crash if you attempt to run it with any older saves still attached. The removal of the JRPG levels simply changed too much.

Note 1: Old saves from .5xx days are broken. Go to file explorer and enter %AppData% to be brought to the application data folder. From there, your saves will be found at “...\AppData\LocalLow\Chivalric Games\Towergirls”. Please delete them and the save info files associated with them.

Note 2: Saves are currently not functioning properly.

Note 3: This build may crash, and the quest may not work in its entirety. Please report any bugs found to the discord channel and they will be addressed as soon as possible!

Additions

• Kobold Princess’s updated quest has been implemented into the game following the new style. To begin the quest, head north from the starting location.This quest will include new VN-style interactions that will replace the previous JRPG levels and battles in the game.
  • The quest should be functional but may be buggy. Please report any bugs found to the discord channel!
• When you are standing over a territory you can hit E to open the territory window, rather than having to click on that territory. Clicking has been found to be somewhat inconsistent.

Changes

• JRPG aspects have been cut in favor of focusing on the Grand Strategy aspects.
  • This means almost all previous functionality involving character items, equipment, and skills have been removed and replaced with a simplified system based around 6 stats for the time being.
• A greater focus has been placed on the visual novel style dialogue segments.
• While we get this system up and running, we’ve turned off all but Kobold Princess. We are working to get the kinks out of this system as rapidly as possible, and will continue to have new art available as development progresses.
• New VN sprites have been made for Kobold Princess and a few others in her quest.
