This is a post to let you know that I've sent the files for my newest minicomic, full title "Chrissy! Wake up! I don't like this!" off to the printer's. It's June 16 today, so I expect to receive copies back by sometime around the middle of next week, which means I will successfully get minicomics out into the mail for everybody before July. Yay me! As always, the link to the digital PDF will be posted here as soon as all the physical copies have gone out to members.
As you can see, this is a Stranger Things inspired cartoon essay. Eagle-eyed members will recall me posting a very early draft of this comic that I was at the time putting together to submit to the New York Times Arts & Leisure section. Happily they accepted it, but less happily (for now), the piece has been put on hold while they figure out some unexpected issues with the paper's Standards department and some of the language I wanted to use. That's not great news for me (still waiting to get word on how, if at all, I can change the comic so they'll go ahead and publish it), but great news for you because it means you're getting physical copies of the cartoon well before it ever gets published elsewhere, and there's a strong chance that the version you will be receiving won't actually get to print in exactly the same format as the one you'll receive.
The above news is obviously a bit of a bummer (I was for sure counting on getting paid that Arts & Leisure rate for this cartoon!), but it seems like something I imagine freelance writers have to deal with all the time. I think it'll work out eventually, and I'll post updates here when I get news.
Thanks as always for the support!
Mike
