November 'Zine Shipping Next Week

Hello friends,

Just wanted to post a photo of the November 'Zine, which I received back from the printer earlier this week. I'll start sending out copies to all Monthly 'Zine Club members starting next Monday. I'll also be dropping a bonus little diary comic into the envelope for all physical 'Zine Club supporters.

The theme of this issue is, as you might have guessed, anxiety and fear of the unknown future. I've certainly had quite a few Long Dark Nights of the Soul recently, so it seemed like an appropriate thing to build an issue around.

It's a little crazy to think this comic will likely be showing up in your mailboxes when we're a little closer to knowing what some aspects of the future will be shaping up to be. At the risk of looking foolish a short time from now,I will throw out there, I actually feel fairly optimistic about where things are going.

I live in New Jersey, which is decidedly not a swing state, but is next door to all-important Pennsylvania. So, last weekend, my wife and I volunteered to travel deep into PA to do some canvassing and to assist in ongoing get out the vote efforts. And, what I saw was, frankly, reassuring. My wife and I canvassed for an afternoon, had a couple bad interactions, had quite a few really great ones, but importantly, we think managed to sway at least one, possibly two, undecided voters away from Donald Trump and towards Kamala Harris. Maybe that sounds like nothing, one or two possible votes, but my wife and I weren't the only ones out there, not by a long shot. There were thousands of people like us. The ground game is strong. People are showing up and dedicating their time. I don't think the Republicans have anything like it. I don't think it's in-the-bag, but I also strongly think there's no need for Democrats to feel so doomed.

But, I guess we'll know how things shake out soon! I am hoping for the best.

I was also optimistic, but alas...
