Open Love Life - Polyamory, Triads, Side Partners, Commitment Preferences - Sims 4 Mod for More Relationship Types

I feel like the side partner is very similar to an open relationship or even poly because some who have open relationships still have an agreement where they have to approve of the other people the partner can hook up with. As for poly there are poly relationships where the one partner has their own partner but isn't necessarily for the other partner so is there a a way to just include this side partner into the other relationships? I noticed even when I had my one sim preference as neutral and the girl as to also neutral or having an open relationship she still ended up feeling bad for cheating when she didn't cheat in their open relationship. That's why I'm not understanding this mod or what I am doing wrong. This is one mod I seem to have trouble with compared to many mods I use now. Is the triple couple considered the poly couple but all parties are dating each other and not just 2 vs 1 kind of thing? Would it be better to message you? Last time it took an extremely long time for a response compared to commenting.

Hi, the important thing to understand is preferences vs actual relationships. If a sim prefers non exclusive but is in an exclusive relationship, they'll have jealousy, because the Sims agreed to be faithful and the other isn't. The reaction depends on the agreement, aka where trust is respected or broken. The preferences impact how Sims react in relationships of different types, and how likely or not they are to accept certain arrangements.

I really want to use this mod to it's full capacity but I always have trouble with it idk why lol prob most my adhd brain overthinking stuff. So if I want to have an open relationship I would choose non exclusive but what if I want to date more seriously certain sims and still have other flings on the side? That becomes the exclusive relationship? I saw in the comments here about going to romance and looking for side partner there. Would that be someone being in a serious relationship with some but having a fling basically on the side? When you say you're in a exclusive relationship with say three people are all three people teachinally with each other or when you ask to add someone that person is for you only to have relations with? Would you ever consider adding these options to add partner or anything in just one pie menu instead of it being in the romance pie menu? I never think to look there and always have trouble with this mod idky lol. I think the wordy confuses me lol instead of it just saying open relationship or poly relationship. Also another thing I noticed everytime I say I'm in an non exclusive relationship but then my sims get deeper sentiments or feelings I will sometimes get moodlets stating I cheated and feel bad etc when I didn't cheat lol. This has happened many times and I'm not sure why or when I ask someone to be my boyfriend and then ask to be in a non exclusive relationship with someone else it still says I'm cheating when technically I'm not. Sorry this is long would it be better to message you because this is driving me crazy trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong or why it keeps saying I'm cheating in an open relationship lol.

Hi, make sure you installed properly, including the requirement (Toolbox). Then it's all in 'change relationship' to ask stuff, and to change preferences it's under 'actions' when clicking self

Hi, that is a very good question! Things have a tendency to show ft with updates so I won't absolutely swear by it, but normally any order is fine :)

Quick couple questions for clarification, With the games dating/marriage system in mind, does it matter what order you ask for a non-exclusive relationship? For example, would asking for a non-exclusive relationship even before the sims officially started dating impact the mod or game at all? Or would it be best to wait until they're already a couple within the game until you as for such an arrangement?

Hi, Sims are allowed to autonomously flirt with others, but in practice NPC's rarely engage into anything between NPC's, however they engage into relationships with played Sims more. There is no dedicated system at the time to make them start other relationships, but I like the idea and will add that in sometime!

I just got into a non-exclusive relationship with an NPC character. In the romance category it had a question about "do you have any other partners." Will that change on its own? Will the NPC form relationships with other characters autonomously?

Hi, you have either an installation problem or a broken mod then. The broken mod giving a lot of trouble lately is PreferencePlus. The creator is aware but had no time to fix it. Take it out if you have it

Sadly, this is not working for me. When I have this mod in, I get an infinite loading screen and a better exception mod warning. I have the latest version of the toolbox.

Hi, Under 'relationship' and 'change relationship' (moved there since the patch), they should see the option to make a multiple exclusive relationship. The sim asking might need to have a start of a romance bar with the third sim but I'm not sure, don't recall exactly

If your sim has an official and exclusive relationship with someone, they can ask that partner to be allowed to have a side partner. It's under 'romance' then 'relationship type'

hey lumpinou! i've noticed that my sim with loyal trait is getting guilty sentiments towards their boyfriend even though they're in an non-exclusive relationship with him. I'm unsure if the mod is not supposed to override the "Boyfriend" vanilla EA relationship and so this is normal behavior and i'll just have to break them up, or if this has something to do with the new(ish?) loyal trait overriding the mod abnormally so i thought i'd ask! :3

Sorry, the children have negative reactions to the poly group showing affection. I only have your mod. I can try again, but it happened in two different families. As in child of Person A and Person B see Person C kissing A or B, they react negatively and hate person C.

What can be done about the offspring of a poly relationship? When the children see their bio parent be affectionate with the non bio parent in the trouple it causes a negative reaction.

I love how your mods make the game way more interesting!! About the 'indifferent to being romantically exclusive' sims, I was wondering if it would be a cool idea to implement a jealous system... like, if they witness their partner being romantic with other sims in front of them, they could get insecure or secretly jealous. Something like "I'm fine with you seeing other people, but aren't you getting too attached to this person?". There could be a score for the nature of the relationship (like in 'no strings attached'), where both grow comfortable with things the way they are or start to become prone to monogamy. Maybe this feature could be optional! For it to work, some chatboxes would appear asking things, for instance: "Your partner just kissed someone in front of you. What is your reaction?" a) I'm cool with it b) Not bothered but let's get out of here (jealousy in denial) c) That made me feel jealous/insecure. And depending of each action, the couple would go somewhere else, have an argument or something like that (?) Don't know if that makes sense haha anyways, thank you for your hard work!

If you have them in an open relationship they're all open. You'd need them to have a 'multiple exclusive relationship'. If they're in a open one it might be a bit backwards to get it to show to offer to be multiple exclusive. You might have to end the open relationships (use cheats under actions if you don't want the sad moodlets etc), and then ask to be a multiple exclusive

Hello! My girlfriend is having some issues with the mod. We can get a poly relationship actually started. Sure we can date our second partner, but we can’t all three be in a relationship. I’m sure this is such an easy fix, but apparently we are dumb and don’t understand lol. Are we missing something here?

Hello! First of all, thank you for making this! This was exactly what I had been looking for when I remembered that the base game doesn't allow poly relationships, after I had just started a household that I had planned to be a poly relationship haha. Are you planning on expanding the number of people that can be in a relationship? Even if it's just to 4 or 5? I want to build a bigger poly household and I'd love if it were possible to have them all be in one relationship. If not, I'm still happy just having two trios :)

Already exists in the mod, it's called an 'official side partner' or 'approved side partner' and Sims can ask each other to have that. Otherwise, for more than one side partner, just count the relationship as open. An open relationship doesn't mean all people involved are with several partners

everybody cant. when you attach files with Patreon it does that always. you're not able to change it unless you do something else idk but it would be hard for me cuz I use zoom level 100 on my browser and I'm used to clicking the small buttons. also, she would have to do a lot of work just to make website pages unless she uses sims file share or something else

Hi! I deliberately limited it to one because I didn't want people using my mod to create all sorts of harems :) In some historical contexts it would make sense etc but in other contexts it might be less warranted. This I say because I had received some requests that made me really uncomfortable and that prompted this decision to limit it... Adding the possibility for the other sim to refuse allowing it was also done so that this feature not become used to make Sims forced to do or allow things. But, yeah, that all was the reasoning here... And for the 'marriage' thing, that would apply to sims in poly relationships so, indeed, it is not meant to be what you described either

Hi Lumpinou! Glad to know that you consider updating this mod in the future. May I ask if it is possible to have unlimited side partners (or at least, more than one)? I'm playing under the ancient China background and one side partner is obviously not enough :)I think the idea of side partner really fits some monarchy backgrounds around the world. Is it difficult to add such a feature? You mentioned soul marriage in the comments, which is interesting as well but that is different from side partner. I hope you can consider my suggestion! There are no bugs, so my suspicion is your Sims used ww interactions. These respond to Turbo's jealousy system and not anything from the game or me. Let me know if that was the case. If not, we'll need to go back and forth with other questions, as other possibilities would be a glitch or a game file change from the patch :)

Hi! I just want to ask if there is a bug. I have my sims in an open relationship, but my sim still got caught cheating by the person they are in the open relationship with. I am not sure if this is a bug, or intentional, but it should not be, due to the fact that both sims agreed to the open relationship, and both prefer non-exclusive relationships.

Hi, I have this mod installed in my game and before the paranormal pack, I had the pie menu when I clicked on my sim to change their preference and now I don't see it. My married couple automatically got "Prefers Non-Exclusive" but with this family I want them "exclusive." Do you know if this needs an update? Or should I just re-download and see if that works?

Hello! I absolutely love this mod but my sims with a FWB relationship can't ask to be in a relationship and they are in the range of 81-100. They both get the sad feeling when they are around each other but they can't ask to be in a relationship.

mod so far so good, both my guy and girl came up exclusive pref, like the very first time. it had all my couple mixed up before ... I haven't checked all them yet but me one couple is good for now.

If you go to actions to look at trait choice, but do not select anything it removes all preferences. To check a Sim's preference look at their traits. Once you checked through actions he was left with no preference.

now the confusion continues, it's def changing multiple sims preferences, in game somehow my guy trait now says nonex, as does checking through action , but when she asks him his pref he doesn't answer, and no phone call a lil later asking . earlier she talked with him about relationship goals, maybe that's why? one really kewl thing is my girl and her friend both prefer ex, so they can enthuse about exclusive as friendly with no rom needed, but just can't ask as friendly manually .

Yes, ideally - if you do re download you do need to replace the files. If you chose not to re download that's ok but just be aware of these little issues existing in the previous version. Sorry again about this, I have testers and of course test myself as well but it seems I need more, and am looking into expanding the team so that less issues escape our combined vigilance and less tiny updates are needed.

Preferences shouldn't come and go, they're basically traits. If you go to the menu to set preferences and exit without doing anything, it removes preferences however. Did that happen?... I'm a little puzzled.

You mean which file? If you use Simler90's 'Better Romance' Mod then you can't have a small feature of two of this as they conflict and need to get the compatibility version. If you don't, then grab the top file, the normal version.
