Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Episodes 7-8 Reaction

The previous Triple Crown winners before Rudolf were St. Lite in 1941, Shinzan in 1964, and Mr. CB in 1983 (the year before Rudolf's Triple Crown). Mr. CB is playable in the JP game and St. Lite appears as an NPC, but Shinzan is absent from the franchise so far. Dicta Striker is based on the IRL horse Soccer Boy, who is the father of Narita Top Road Someone else mentioned the relationship between Maruzensky and Sakura Chiyono O, so I'll mention that Maruzensky is also Special Week's grandfather via his daughter Campaign Girl Not an Uma fact, but the word Pegasus was adopted into English from Latin, which adopted it from Greek Tamamo Cross debuted a couple months earlier than Oguri, she's just not going for the Triple Crown. Super Creek debuted the same year, but much later than the two of them, so it's entirely possible she didn't qualify for the Satsuki Sho

Orfevre- The Golden Tyrant Since we’re covering the Classics right now it only makes sense to cover a triple crown winner and who better than Orfevre. Orfevre isn’t currently out in global as of now however he was depicted all the way back into the original trailer (along with Oguri Cap and Symboli Rudolf having a Yuri on Ice skating performance for some reason). Orfevre was born on May 14th 2008 to Stay Gold and Oriental Art. Stay Gold was the son of Sunday Silence a racehorse who’s fathered many dominant horse. Stay Gold is also the father of Gold Ship, making Gold Ship and Orfevre related. Although Gold Ship’s mother is different from Orfevre’s they’re both daughters of Mejiro McQueen. Just like Gold Ship, and all of the Stay Gold children for that matter, Orfevre was known for his difficult personality. At his debut race he would accelerate on the final stretch but during it his bit (the piece of the harness that goes in the mouth) went too far in. This irritated him and after he crossed the finish line in first he continued running towards the fence, throwing his Jockey off of his back. Even after the race he was unruly which lead to the cancellation of the commemorative photos. His next race he would finish in a close second. His third race would be his first Graded race in the G2 Keio Hai Nisai Stakes, which was shorter than his normal races and lead to him placeing 10th being stuck in the middle of the pack. After this they moved him from the training stables to the paddocks for a bit. Upon his return to the stables they started training him for the Japan Derby. His first race back would be the G3 Shinzan Kinen where he would place second. The next race would be the G3 Kisaragi Sho where he would place third. The trainer during these races focused more on getting Orfevre to learn than on actually winning. This would pay off in his next race, the G2 Spring Stakes. The Spring Stakes is the trial for the Satsuki Sho, although this year they relocated the race from the Nakayama racecourse to the Hanshin racecourse due to a devastating earthquake. He would take the outside on the final corner and take first place making it his first graded win. The Satsuki Sho this year was relocated as well to the Tokyo racecourse. Orfevre would actually take the inside on this race and on the last stretch find his opening out from the pack to take the win by 3 lengths. After this race he would take 2 weeks off for fatigue. His condition improved significantly one week away from the Derby. The Derby would end up being heavy due to a typhoon. During the final straight of the race however Orfevre would end up getting boxed in. Finding a narrow path out Orfevre would take it and quickly take first and keep it for the rest of the race. He was only 1 1/2 lengths ahead of second but 8 lengths ahead of third. During the summer most race horses actually go to Hokkaido to prevent heat fatigue. Orfevre however would stay where he was. This was to hopefully prevent any illness that may arise due to the temperature difference once he would’ve returned. Once summer passed he would enter into the G2 Kobe Shimbun. Here he’d take a more pace chaser strategy and hang more near the front. The pace was slower this race and once Orfevre entered his final spurt he covered 600 meters in 32 seconds securing him a comfortable victory. The Kikuka Sho actually has the horses go around the lap twice. Going by the fans the first time around actually caused Orfevre to get excited and start speeding up. Luckily his jockey predicted this and placed him in the pack so that he couldn’t speed and and waste his stamina. By the final turn of the race Orfevre was already in first and kept on gaining distance. His lead was so huge that he ended slowing down before the finish line and still won by 2 lengths and claimed the triple crown. However even though he slowed down he didn’t stop and eventually threw his trainer off again into the railings. After this he entered in the Arima Kinen with the second most fan votes behind Buena Vista (an Uma in the Japan version) who was set to retire after this race. He would go onto win this race beating Eishin Flash by 1 1/4 lengths. His remarkable performance made him Japanese Horse of the Year. His first race back was the G2 Hanshin Daishoten, which was selected to prepare him for the Prix De L'arc De Triomphe. Even before the race began Orfevre was reportedly irritable. During the race the pace was slow and Orfevre got impatient and took the lead. After front running for a bit Orfevre slowed down to a near hault and let every other horse pass him. Once he was in the rear he began accelerating again. Surprisingly he made it back to second place only to lose by 1/2 length. This stunt made him have to take a retest to see if he could run a race properly. His next race was the Tenno Sho (spring). There his jockey purposely positioned himself behind other horses as to prevent an event like the previous one from happening. However this strategy would end up backfiring as Orfevre would get stuck in the back of the pack and place 11th. With this poor placement his chances of getting into the Prix De L’arc De Triumphe now rested upon his performance at the Takarazuka Kinen. There at the Takarazuka Kinen Orfevre would go back to his previous self and pull out a win by 2 lengths. His next race would be the G2 Prix Foy in Paris to prepare for the Triumphe. They would end up switching out his jockey during his time in France. The race would end up only having 5 horses in it. During this race Orfevre would get excited again and start front running, however he was somehow able to snag a win despite of this. During the Prix De L’arc De Triumphe Orfevre wouldn’t pull any of his usual antics and followed through on his plan. On the final straight he ended up being first at the 300 meter mark. However he would start to veer right and slow down slightly. This allowed Solemia to catch up with him and barely beat him by a head. After this Orfevre would return to Japan for the Japan Cup. There he would be up against Solemia again, a triple tiara winner Gentildonna (she’s a future Uma) and Eishin Flash. During the final stretch it was Orfevre, Gentildonna and Beat Black. Beat Black would end up tiring out and falling back. Gentildonna, trying to avoid the slowing Beat Black would move to the side knocking Orfevre slightly off balance. Gentildonna would end up winning by a nose after a 20 minute deliberation about whether the bump would disqualify her. After the deliberation Gentildonna remained the winner. This would be Orfevre’s last race for the year as he still was getting used to being in Japan again. His five year old year started off with a win at the G2 Sankei Osaka Hai. He planned on doing the Takarazuka Kinen before going to France again, however he developed exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage during training and was pulled out of the Takarazuka Kinen. Luckily his case was minor and he was still able to attend the Triumphe. He again did the G2 Prix Foy in preparation. He won by 3 lengths. Second place was Very Nice Name which isn’t important information but I have to include a name like that. The Prix De L’arc De Triumphe would sadly end in a second place finish, 5 lengths away from first. After this he took a break in France for a bit. Here his trainers decided that his last race would be this years Arima Kinen. He would actually get to face off against his younger brother Gold Ship during this race. He would end up showing up his younger brother by winning this race by 8 lengths. Overall his career he raced in 21 races won 12 seven of which were G1 tying Symboli Rudolf’s record. He had 6 runner up finishes and 2 third place finishes. This means he podiumed in 95% of all of his races. Currently Orfevre is currently a retired as a breeding stud. As for what he’s up to now there’s video of his jockey paying him a visit and he sticks his tongue out for his jockey to play with. He also reportedly like to smell his own poo, cry about it, then smell it again. The entire Stay Gold lineage is full of freaks. Extra non-horse related facts 7 is actually considered a lucky number pretty much everywhere. That’s why it’s used in slot machines here in the US. There’s actually a belief in Japan that if you sneeze it means someone’s talking about you while you’re not there. It happens a lot in anime and you don’t really notice until you know this. As for the “Ashen horses” stereotypes I couldn’t find anything concrete about this particular rumor. There is a superstition that a horses color affects their abilities so it’s not too far fetched an idea. I’d take Umamusume’s word for it as they’re typically right on these things.

Don't worry mommy will come eventually, manga has 21 volumes out so there is a ton of source

Coping McCoperson

The Sakura's, particularly laurel, have their own manga too. I wonder if it'll ever get adapted.

FYI Maruzensky is Sakura Chiyono O father IRL which is why she dotes one her so much in this!
