Man what a great series, I really looked forward to that each week as well. Hope we get a season2! It was cute, fun, has great characters, really enjoyed getting to know them and see how they evolved over the course of the season. Loved these reactions. Ya know, if you're interested in shogi, have I got a series for you! (heh ya know I'm gonna keep mentioning it even if I'm no where near as persistent as your friend ray was for his show for... a damn long time lol)

For instance pieces promote on the first three tiles in your opponent’s territory rather than just at the end. All pieces promote into Gold pieces except for Bishops, Rooks, and Gold pieces. Now for the biggest rule change, you can play your opponent’s captured pieces. This is what made me want to learn Shogi (besides being a weeb). Pieces breakdown: Pawns- can only move forward and captures forward to. Pawns are the only pieces to my knowledge to have limits on where you can place them, as they can’t be in a column that already has a Pawn. Lance- Lance is a rook that only goes straight. Knight- moves just like a chess knight except it can only go two up and one sideways. It can’t go one up and two sideways. Silver- it can go in each diagonal one tile and straight one tile. Gold- it can go in all four directions one tile and go diagonally forward one tile too. Rook- Just like a chess rook. When it promotes it can also go diagonally one tile. Bishop- same as chess Bishop. When it promotes it can go horizontally and vertically one tile. Honestly a very fun game and while I haven’t learned any openings or strategies from what I’ve heard it feels more like two fortresses battling compared to chess at higher levels.
