I'm also watching the anime for the first time and discovering how great of a character she is in the anime too messed me up again, damn, it's just so good

Every injury you see in the show corresponds to a real Teio injury - The dagger on Rice Shower's outfit is because of the "Black Assassin" nickname - The new record thing does in fact refer to the fact that Rice Shower's run was the fastest anyone has ever ran the Spring Tenno Sho at that time. The IRL Rice Shower also set the record during the 1993 Spring Tenno Sho, which wouldn't be surpassed until 1997
