They jumped over a lot of content of the book, this episode covers practically one year of Anne's live. To be fair the book starts also doing time skips but there were some things skipped that were quite important. The evening event: Anne is invited to a social gathering evening event and sleep over with Diana. Anne gets to know Josephine Barry, a rich aunt of Diana, after they jumped into the bed she was sleeping in, but Josephine becomes a good friend of Anne after she finds Anne's apology very funny. Mr. and Mrs. Allen: In this episode its just a short side note not the actual visit. Anne bakes a cake, but as usual something goes wrong and Anne throws one of her tantrum. But Mrs. Allen seems to see her general insecurity and can calm her down, she becomes quite an important person as a role model for Anne. In the old anime we also get 2 recap episodes, one is the one year anniversary of Anne on Green Gables, a super sweet episode and Marilla and Matthew already fear that Anne is gone as fast as she arrived. The Christmas event: As far as I remember and in the old anime, Anne does not expect Marilla and Matthew to come and watch her. Marilla thinks such events are not good for Anne, and Matthew really does not like to be around a lot of people. But both attend and Anne is super happy. We see Gilbert taking Annes rose that she lost and she is furious when he does his stage play with it.
