One Piece Question

Hey guys,

My One Piece reactions are getting NO views on here and I was wondering why?

Is nobody interested in watching this classic anime?

You’re waiting for a certain arc?

I’m truly flummoxed.

Please, some feedback would be appreciated.

One Piece Question

Its just slow to watch with only one episode each

Nolthe

I sometimes wait for more Episodes to binge-watch or just not got the mood or time, but at the End I will watch it because i rly like your reactions and most of the Shows. I really like One Piece and I watched it myself 2 times and from other Reactions too, so sometimes it's just a bit to much, and I need a break. I'm happy about your Fairy Tail and Naruto reaction atm because I like them too, and I haven't watched them in a while now, so looking forward for more.

It's just too long. One Piece is a 900+ ep series right now. Shorter series are probably best. Like 52 episodes or less if you're doing anything older that isn't currently ongoing. Also it's more popular in Japan than with western audiences. Luffy is practically the equivalent of Mickey Mouse in Japan in terms of how big of a mascot he is for the Japanese.

Richard

Its one hell of a long series you're jumping into

The only down side to 4 episodes a week is that something else would have to go. The sheer amount of recording and editing I already do, I’m struggling to keep on top of 2 a week as it is.

I've been putting it off for a few weeks now since I wanted to watch the whole baratie arc in one go, but I'm definitely going to be along for the whole ride. Also, I gotta agree with some of the others that 2 episodes per week is fine for most big shows but just doesn't really cut it for the sheer monster that is One Piece since it will take well over 10 years to catch up at this speed. I'm not sure how full your schedule is but if it's not asking too much, I'd recommend doing 4 episodes a week.Long story short: Some others and myself might be more motivated to stick around instead of watching on their own if it's only five years until we catch up to the current episodes.

One Piece has really a complicated history in the west. It's popular but it has a lot of strings attached. It got canceled on American TV a couple of times due to low viewership. With fans it used to be apart of the 'big 3' anime series, other two being Naruto and Bleach. One Piece was considered the weakest link out of the three but over time... over a really long time it gained respect mostly because Naruto and Bleach went down hill while One Piece's story telling quality after many episodes remain consistent. Another thing is the anime studio Toei Animation. It should not have this many episodes or be this close to catching with the manga. It has a good sound track and when they decide to they can animate really well. But most of the time they just don't try. The latest arc Wando (ep 892), they sorta fix the animation but the other problems still plague it. It is the MOST popular manga in Japan and people figure Toei Animation must be making a lot of money from the anime so the feeling is there's no excuse for the quality level. When Mad House adapted Hunter x Hunter *properly* it sort of put a nail in the coffin for this type of adaptation, more recently Black Clover and Fairy Tail added more gas to the fire. Modern anime like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Demon Slayer, or My Hero Academia how they take long breaks to keep up the good quality seems to be preferred and it is now what the fans are used to. One Piece still persists, but it's a product of its time with Naruto and Bleach. If another anime tries to adapt weekly with no breaks with an on going manga I think it will not be received warmly.. at all.

I know I'm definitely watching it, I accidentally built up a bit of a back log but got caught up a couple days ago. One Piece is definitely one of my favorites and I'm almost constantly in a state of rewatching it. The only thing I can potentially think could be going on is people might think it's "tainted" cause you already read some of the manga, and honestly I think that would be a stupid reason to not watch, the anime and manga are pretty much 2 different beasts it may be telling the same story but it also has the music, the voices, the actual movement versus the still images. Plus you've said it yourself that you really only remember bits and pieces/the emotional bits and really with what the anime brings with it those moments can potentially hit harder now. For the record though, I don't think it's "tainted" or anything I am having a great time watching your reactions to it.

For me, I'm only interested in watching reactions to shows i have already finished, and because OP is so so so long, I still haven't got there yet. And even if I do finish the show, watching all 1000+ episodes again, even with your delightful self, might be a bit much.

Thank you. I was wondering if I was wasting my time. Although, to be fair, I’ve always watched anime I’m interested in and have no intention of stopping. I was just confused as I know it is Uber popular. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the feedback from you guys and wish I got more. Cheers.

And actually, to clarify: This isn't specific to One Piece, I binge most of the content you put out MHA, ReZero, the others... I'm not up to date on most of the anime, but it's not because I don't enjoy the content, it's just how I prefer to watch anime I've already seen and reexperience them with reactors. My priority is still anime that I haven't seen so I'm fine paying for the content and I just get to it later.

For me personally, I would prefer to just watch a ton of episodes in a row because that's how I watch this show. It'll take until 2031 for you to get close to the nearly 1000 episodes at this pace and there'd be way more than that and the show would probably be done by then, so I feel like I can just watch other things and then binge your reactions to it because there's no rush as long as it's 2 a week.
