I only have a little time here in England. As I said before, I have been selected to represent Finland in the Miss International @miss_internatiolalai event, and I need to get back to New York for some events.
Let me get going! I need to shower (I won’t show you that today), then finish getting ready. Be right back…

So, just look at this bathroom! Everything about this place is amazing. I’m just sorry I won’t be able to stay very long. I wasn’t expecting to be summoned back to NY so soon. I’ll have to take the red-eye back tonight so I can be there in the morning.
But, today, I’m here in England visiting with Andy and he has planned out a busy day! It won't all be fun and games, though.
We’ll be visiting a homeless shelter and helping serve meals. There are people in need everywhere. I do believe if the good people would just take a minute and think about how they could help out, a lot of benefit would come from it.
Andy also wants me to enjoy some “real” football. That will be fun!
Right now, I have a little time to kill, so I’ll take my time getting dressed and will enjoy a fine English breakfast!
After that? Let’s find out together
I had a thought… a moment… I’m sorry ahead of time if this gets deep or is boring. I feel like I should share this… idea, anyway, so I took a picture in the moment.
As I was changing, I caught a glimpse of myself in the full-length mirror. It’s an old mirror, and I’d bet an incalculable number of people, through the years, have stood before it to see themselves.
But did they really see themselves?
Oh, to be sure, when we look in a mirror—a literal mirror—we see a reflection of ourselves. Light bounces off our bodies and reflects from the mirror to our eyes. Our brains then process the signals into a meaningful image.
It is a reflection of us. When we stand before a literal mirror, we see a reflection of our physical being.
But is that who we are?

Of course not. It is, to some extent, what we look like, but who are we really? Far more than a corporal body that is usually covered in clothes! So often we hide our true physical self behind layers of cloth, leather, and other materials.
Still… that is not who we are. It is what we look like.
We need a different kind of “mirror” to examine who we truly are. Some set of norms, standards, and ideals that serve metaphorically as a mirror. By comparing what we know about ourselves, what we are willing to admit to ourselves, to that metaphorical mirror, we get a picture—of sorts—of ourselves.
And like a literal mirror, the quality of what we see depends on the quality of that into which we look. We likely will not get a true picture of ourselves if we compare what we know of ourselves to what we see posted in the company break room. Oh, that might be a view and in part give us a picture, but the words posted there hardly take in the whole of us.
I paused as I was changing clothes and looked at the image of my physical self. It is similar, I know, to how I really look. When I turn away and get dressed, I’ll pause again and look into other “mirrors” to see if I can get an image of how my goals, motives, and actions align with what I am actually doing.
Now… you can relax. The naked girl is done…
I had a nice relaxing morning but the afternoon is coming on and I'll be pretty busy. But, I wanted to share this with you before I get to the rest of the day.
I got a picture from Izzy today. She was working a baseball game trying to entertain the crowd.

Looking at her, I think she probably did a pretty good job of it!
Do you think she could get you to cheer?
Well, I do need to get going soon. I'm going to close this diary entry and finish the day in another one. This day promises to be so big, it gets two entries!
