SRS #190 [Video] with Shyam Sankar

Shyam Sankar is the Chief Technology Officer at Palantir Technologies. A builder at heart, he’s spent over 20 years designing and deploying cutting-edge software and AI for both government and private sector partners. As Palantir’s 13th hire, Shyam helped take the company from scrappy startup to S&P 500 powerhouse.

A relentless opponent of inefficiency and red tape, Shyam has made it his mission to overhaul the institutions holding America back—starting with the government. His focus? The Defense Reformation: a bold effort to transform how the U.S. military buys, builds, and fights so we can win—and keep winning.

I don’t know how I missed this one but WOW! He totally gets the big picture. I am very encouraged that our country is going to have the “Golden Age” that President Trump talks about. We really have some brilliant people that are patriots.

You wanna see an industry that's managed into the ground, take a look at the nuclear power industry in the US. (and that's coming from an insider)

Shawn, my name is Jerimy. I was in the Army for 15 years. 10 as an Engineer, and 5 flying Apaches. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, and poly-substance use disorder from 4 years that I spent in Iraq. I never had a criminal record before spending 4 years in Iraq. I have listened to your podcast and I can totally relate to the adrenaline addiction, resulting in high-risk activity after getting out of the Army. I'm currently facing some time because of some possession charges I got when I was using. I have been sober for over 6 months now. I could really use your help advocating for Veterans Treatment Court expansion. I have a petition going www.change.org/extend-veterans-treatment-court-access-to-all-veterans. Or you can contact me at burrbtb@gmail.com. Thanks for all that you do man. God bless.

Fascinating and makes my head hurt at the same time. I had to watch this in pieces because Shyam is not only brilliant but he thinks on a different plane than my pea brain can handle! And he articulates in a way that at first I think I understand everything he says so clearly until I realize he talking about stuff I know nothing about! I think i now believe we indeed should build a better military through innovation and attracting genius minds with a lot less Pentagon mentality!

This is a fascinating interview. At 69, and 38 years of disability I won't be a part of the solution. I worry about my children, great-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with respect to employment. I stopped a bit after the 22 minute mark because I don't hear Shyam saying anything that's different with A.I. than with humans. I hear him say human sharing isn't going well. Well, I'm no Bush fan and I'd dismantle his (or Cheney's) Patriot Act. His A.I. is still based on the premise of what information "MAY" be shared or accessed. The problems that plague people will continue to plague A.I. I'll make one more comment that may be answered before I finish the interview. Are we going to be able to fix the broken political system? Where does our country's constitution stand after the advent of A.I.? Thanks for your indulgence. Shawn, thank you for sharing what you've grown here.

Commenting on this before finished watching which will probably put foot in mouth. Plenty of typos etc. But so many interesting points. Don't know how true this is but apparently when looking at James bond the response was it wouldn't work due to the cia needs fie receipts for drinks, various other things like lazer watches and the receipts mainly for drink. James bond for 80's films. But re allies interaction. Maybe very wrong but humint seems to have served eg UK well. In the Falklands, France was still selling exorcets to Argentina until thatcher and if the story is correct told the French to knock it on the head. With mi6 having to pose as SA arms dealers to buy the rest up. Then when that conflict was over they resumed selling. Presumably the armslites send from us to certain terrorist organisation who spoiler alert no in government. Would have been bugged which shows the extend to waste lives to learn ultimately how to know how that enemy worked. And hid arms. Due to presumably leading to other arms caches. Of explosives donated by us, plo responsible for the 300 + marines killed in Lebanon in the 80s. Training grounds and funding by Libya. To name but a few. Thatcher and regan seemed to get on well so presuming this was reason. As for the barret not so sure. It seems natural people are annoyed about what appears to be double-triple dipping going on for years. The UK has something like a third of nuclear fleet in US getting repairs done. Some genius came up with letting France and China build mini reactors to help with power. Thankfully someone had the sense to go not a chance. However China has bought up large parts of Europe. Maybe wrong but think us and allies knew they were lying with that. Going back to the drone this is similar to certain previously mentioned skirmishes in UK. Which bought to light super dollars. If people remember 2017 it was predicted that we were heading for a depression not seen like since the end of 2nd World War. The adds like PayPal the new cash. The contact less debit card limits raised 4 fold, due to covid not being able to live on plastic as opposed to cash. Fdr I think had the rehabilitation to work act which helped bring jobs back to us and creating jobs to stimulate economy. China can turn out the equivalent of the UK navy in 4 months. As it and Australia are committed to sailing wherever the US goes this is important. When politicians and bureaucrats get involved things tend to take a nose dive quick. Unmanned concerns me As this does away with many jobs. Re misles if the warheads with made in Belfast has that removed it could have stopped a potential dragging UK into it. But its a lesson. Re paperclip the Soviets were grabbing those capable of the v2 rockets. If nothing was done the western world would have need left behind. It'd refreshing to see people with energy to pull their country and people back to were they should be. Re fentanyl war look at Estonia. The only country to have proper fentanyl crisis. The opium war I thought probably mistakeningly was during the industrial revolution. There is a very famous painting gin lane when the poor in England were falling through cracks and basically ending up full on gin and using high quality opium from China. However people really need to look at the prohibition of drugs. Alcohol prohibition spawened and funded criminal organisations such as the mafia. Are people really going to every stop taking drugs. Would it cut out the curiosity if legal as well as the quality. Let alone the taxes, less emergency treatment caused from people who'll peddle anything. Fentanyl now, nitazines already in play. Can't remember his name but the escobar of the heroin trade. China has walked into Afghanistan and introduced them to methamphetamine. The heroin that would have went to Europe is not going there and what is cut with synthetics. Cocaime seems to be a major problem in Europe which appears to cut with synthetic opiods. Indian is a very under estimated power house. Noyce as in A machine is like a desert. Either it fascinates or appalls you. China is a master of backward engineering things. We seem to be going backwards in somethings eg electric cars which have been about since before the combustion engine. What pardon the pun fuelled this. Was is for a greener planet. To have chips in people like Sweden. Which seems to push towards the whole Chinese model of credit systems. Very interesting interview. Great to see enthusiasm for pushing the country forward. Re weapons think was Erik prince saying if they can see it they can hit it. And tomahawks seemed to be having success. Apologies for seriously long comment. Used to the u tub comments with the times etc. Also apologies for starting to comment on possibilities of a guest when mentioning doing pirate stuff. Theres a fella Phil campion. Was doing similar thing only no weapons at first. Apart from mini fridge. Quality. Top show as ever

Rando carlrision

Keep on brining guests like Shyman onto the show, incredible!
