Magnified Optics ACOG
Added 2021-02-28 22:23:09 +0000 UTCHello Tier II and Tier III,
We get lots of questions on rifle zeros and I hope this video helps answer some of those questions.
For this example we use the ACOG.
The important takeaway from this is to check the manual for your specific optic even different models of the same scope might need to be zeroed for different distances depending on the reticle.
Tier III live (zoom) next week. Finished up a great session of content creation the last few days and are getting the new studio details finalized ππ».

Haha! Used both and man they're coming out with some crazy new reticles these days.

2021-03-06 02:45:11 +0000 UTCI sometimes forget ACOGs used to have crosshair reticles like that instead of dual illuminated red chevrons. I would make fun of Shawn for being old enough to have hunted dinosaurs, but I'm old enough to be aware that ACOGs used to all be like that.

2021-03-03 02:29:56 +0000 UTCAll depends on the model. Each manufacturer has their way of zeroing so it's good to learn the holdovers. ππ»

2021-03-02 05:34:52 +0000 UTCThis should help with indoor. Adjusted zero targets can be really useful with limited range for training.

2021-03-02 05:27:38 +0000 UTCBullet weights also play a roll in accuracy and zero. Good to know impacts of the different grain weights.

2021-03-02 05:25:33 +0000 UTCThanks Nathan! We'll do more on optics.

2021-03-02 05:06:46 +0000 UTCGreat video. Reading instructions is definitely important. I've noticed some optics tell you zero at max magnification and others don't depending on which focal plane the reticle is on.

2021-03-01 12:10:40 +0000 UTCThank you so much, Shawn! Very clear explanation how to calculateπ. I double appreciate this video because I mostly use indoor for training.

2021-03-01 04:25:58 +0000 UTCAlso check bullet weight. M855 are 62 grain .

2021-03-01 02:03:03 +0000 UTCThank you, Shawn. Great video, easy to understand for a newb like me. Would appreciate more on optics, holds, etc. You have a knack for explaining complex things in a basic way, which for me is a starting point to begin using my tools and learning more.

2021-02-28 23:02:01 +0000 UTCYes, read the owner's manual. I bought a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x LPVO and it clearly states 50-yard zero if you want the BDC reticle to work at 6x. It is a sweet optic too. I zeroed mine during a Carbine & Rifle Fundamentals class yesterday. I feel like I'm a little faster at 25-yards and in with a Red Dot, but I can probably get better with practice. Shooting stuff up to 377 yards from prone was easy, almost felt like I was cheating.
