Proving Gross Motor Skill Methods to Yourself

It's cold outside! πŸ˜‚

Now is a great time to prove some of the methods to yourselves that I've been teaching.

Adhere to all firearms safety rules and range commands/protocols at your facility. For more info on safety, see https://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/

Proving Gross Motor Skill Methods to Yourself

Comments

Environment makes a big difference! 24 below. That's cold!

Shawn

Nice vid! Went out and shot a few weeks ago when it was 24 below zero-not including windchill here in Minnesota. Very little dexterity, Shot like shit with both pistol and AR. Then I see Taran Tactical in 80 degree weather surrounded by women, teaching mag changes, talking about how gross motor skill training is dated/irrelevant haha. Pretty sure I could see a cheeseburger in his pocket the whole video.

Thanks Michael! I did like the snow ⛄️

Shawn

Great video. Got to love the TN weather, right!

Great video Shawn. I finally was able to get a Glock 19. I'm beyond excited as I was looking for it ages. I was able to get the special edition haha. The pic is in the link. https://www.smga.com/prodimages/3755-DEFAULT-l.jpg

As always, Great Content πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ». I live in Eastern Montana, -20 F degrees is not uncommon for winter here, so I have plenty of time to practice in the cold πŸ₯ΆπŸ€” in regards to mag changes, both my EDC G19 and my β€œwork gun” jump the slide lock with the reload. Works pretty slick for me but was wanting to get your opinion on that. Thanks

I live in Texas it's never supposed to be this cold. Having lived and hunted in the Dakota's I know for certain the cold will sap your energy and coordination so fast. I agree with your points just my joints no longer like cold hence the move back to Texas. I have to get some trees planted so my neighbors don't think i'm nuts using my snap caps on back porch. Wish I had a place like yours out in the woods. Keep up the good work.

Michael Parkhill

Will do more videos there soon!

Shawn

Thanks Darrin! I appreciate that. I put my all into the show and the content. πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

Good to practice in different environments πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

Thanks Lonny!

Stay frosty!

Shawn, sir, I know you're super busy but this year could we see you take down your cabin in really Navy Seal speed. I feel like seeing it at full speed would help us see what our movements are supposed to look like. I think it would also give us a better idea what to shoot for in our own training. Not that I'll probably ever be at that level but none the less I don't think it would hurt to see it full speed real time!

Thank you for the content you’re producing. I live in the Illinois/Iowa border area. We have tons of snow. (You should see the pictures) I have experienced different issues with the cold while hunting coyotes, even with my creedmoor when it comes to frosting. Not a huge problem, but something to watch for. Thank you for your podcasts where you do the long form interviews. Allowing your subjects to just talk has given me so much relief about things I’ve been through. Journalists and current news media should take pointers from you... to say the least.

Darrin Smith

Seeing all that snow almost makes me wish I still lived in the midwest. I've been through my share of blizzards but don't miss that shit and below zero temps enough. Good tip nonetheless and worth practicing in these frigid 40's and 50's of Las Vegas. :D

Jason Nichols

Excellent idea to have us executing fundamentals you taught us in a difficult environment! Thanks!

Lonny

Great reminder how tough it is to be smooth and precise in cold weather, thanks Shawn!
