How To Review A Pistol
Added 2021-02-12 06:09:17 +0000 UTCHello Tier II and Tier III,
I hope all of you are well!
Today's video is a longer one. We get lots of requests to review different guns on the regular, especially the latest and greatest. TBH, most of the newest guns coming out are reiterations of older models and most the time not much in the new department. Sometimes something awesome comes out that I end up liking and I usually share that with you when something new solves a need or is a legitimate upgrade (think when the original P365 was new).
I cover what I look for in a defensive pistol and how I review a pistol. In this specific example it is a carry gun for my wife. I want ya'll to be able to apply these concepts when you are looking at new gear in the shop. At the end of the day, what fits me best might not be what fits you best. I recommend shooting different guns when you get the chance to help build your opinions.
First and foremost, remember that a carry/duty pistol is a defensive tool. However, not all guns are used for defensive purposes and I have plenty of cool collectors ones myself, nothing wrong with that. I buy plenty of things just because I like them as well as serious tools.
Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
Cheers!

This is something I’m going through trying to find the right fit for my mom. With everything going on a while ago I gave her my G19 to replace her old .38 revolver but being only 5’ flat with small hands I know it’s not the best fit. I had her try out a number of options and she liked both the G43X as well as the 365XL. My only concern now is with her arthritis even after hand surgery that her grip might not be enough to reliably let the slide cycle fully. Deciding between the two right now is real cluster F since the local range only lets you rent with their ammo but is out of stock right now on 9mm...... 2021 problems

2021-03-10 20:17:18 +0000 UTCAbsolutely. If mine didn't do that and shot 100% I actually liked it. But, with those issues, I wouldn't be getting rid of my Glocks any time soon. Also, all guns fail at some point, it's good to have confidence in the ones you own and the only way to build that is through training.

2021-03-06 03:16:50 +0000 UTCI remember when I got my p10 I felt the same. Felt so natural in the hand. It was actually a week ago I realized it was Shawn and Travis that reviewed the p10c that wouldn’t press check. I hate you guys had a lemon that day. Stuff like that can really kill something for you.

2021-03-05 08:09:20 +0000 UTCIt's really important to get hands on time with different brands. When you find that right fit, it can make all the difference.

2021-02-18 04:19:57 +0000 UTCIt's pretty cool how modular the 320 is makes it easier to find that right fit.

2021-02-18 04:15:50 +0000 UTCGood video. Comfort is huge. The more I shot my first pistol the less I liked it. When I picked-up my second pistol (CZ-P10C) it felt like it was made for my hand and I immediately started shooting better. The trigger reset reinforcement is incredibly important. With my first pistol the reset is barely noticeable. My newer pistol it has that reinforcement and getting use to managing the reset has helped my speed and precision with follow-up shots a ton. I'm torn on the optic for a pistol too. On one hand if it's works like an AR optic then it would be much faster in acquiring your shot. However if it fails it's not good.

2021-02-17 01:01:54 +0000 UTCP365 variants are good pieces. The cool thing too is if you end up not liking it for whatever reason, it won't be hard to sell or trade on the used market.

2021-02-16 10:32:15 +0000 UTCI think it's a pretty good choice especially if it's a carry gun or for someone with smaller hands. P229 is a pretty cool gun. A bit dated these days but I think those P Series Sigs are going to go up in value over the years as they are discontinued.

2021-02-16 10:31:10 +0000 UTCThat's a huge plus on these modular Sigs. Pretty cool too that if you scratch your frame up training, it's a relatively inexpensive fix.

2021-02-16 10:27:39 +0000 UTCStill messing with it. Definitely a different animal than my normal ARs.

2021-02-16 10:25:05 +0000 UTCRunning the p320 now fits my hands better. Runs the federal hallow points smoothly. I’m a SIG guy now.

2021-02-12 23:53:20 +0000 UTCThanks for the review/instructional; this Sig might be a good option for my wife. Also, Sigs typically feel comfortable in my hands. The P229 M11 fits perfectly in my grip. I did have FTE issues with a different P229, but Sig made good on it and have experienced no issues since.

2021-02-12 19:03:46 +0000 UTCSolid review, thanks Shawn. I have small hands so unless there are different back strap or grip module options the comfort criteria grabs me right away. On my P320 XCompact I changed out the frame/grip module for Sigs smaller version and it created a perfect fit in my hand. Just an fyi - Sig offers different frame module sizes and colors on their online store and it's an easy drop in.
