Eotech 4x Magnifier Setup

Hello Patreon,

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!

Had a few questions about this setup in the zeroing video and decided to make a video on it. All and all a proven setup. Not my personal preference but it works.

Let me know if you have any questions. Lots of content in editing and production.

Cheers.

Any opinions on the EXPS-4(the 4 dot eotech) + magnifier since it gives you range finding and hold over ability’s? I was also considering using the Unity Tactical risers for the eotech and magnifier. 2.26 height would be nice for passive aiming. I don’t want to waste a bunch of money and have a trash setup lol, night guns are new to me.

Caleb Whitman

Do you have any existing videos on night vision or thermal optics?

Terk

Thanks for taking the time to reply! Much appreciated!

Thomas

Irons are a must have. QD mounts on the optics are good and flip up metal irons usually.

Shawn

Any thoughts on set ups that don’t have iron sights? For instance, I see a bunch of people running a red dot/magnifier or a 1-6 but then they don’t have any iron sights on for whatever reason (lack of room I would guess). If you have a quality optic do you think it’s okay to forego irons? Or should irons always be a “must have” ? Thanks!

Thomas

1-6 is awesome if you are in a rural area with terrain like mountain top to mountain top or somewhere that has lots of outdoors. I like those too and will be doing some content on them but for most practical purposes I'm a red dot guy. You can get wrapped up in scopes and man it's expensive.

Shawn

Nice, was wondering how these worked. A buddy of mine tried to convince I needed a 1-4 or 1-6 scope for long range, just in case I'm shooting long range. I figured if I'm shooting at 300+ yards, I'll be going to jail soon after and there's no reason for me to be in such a position. I got a red dot and some irons as its main purpose is protecting the home. If I cant hit 100 yards with irons or red dot, my shooting isn't worth a shit anyway.

Not yet. Jon (guy behind the camera) likes Primary a bunch and keeps telling me about them. I've gone with the ACOG myself when going with a fixed magnified optic.

Shawn

One product that I find really good is the Primary Arms 3x Prism Scope. Fixed magnification like and ACOG with their ACSS reticle etched into the glass you can use with or without illumination. Thing is built like a tank and works for people with astigmatism like myself. Have you ever tried one of these and, if so, what's your take?

Alex Sachse

Iron sights are good to have. I'll be hammering that home more during the carbine series.

Shawn

Troy. I like the metal ones that let you adjust the length. Just a good sturdy piece of hardware.

Shawn

Man those wait times! That's rough.

Shawn

Jerry Fahey, thanks for that info, I have the first gen ( I’m pretty sure) with the red arrow type illuminated reticle, and it works quite well. Guess I’ll have to get some 45’ iron sights, since, who sells an AR-15 without any sights these days. Edit: 1st gen Vortex strike eagle scope line.

Randy smith

Hey Shawn, just curious what vertical forgrip that is?

Robb C

Yes I had to wait for two months, then they popped up on Optics Planet.

Dan Cusator

I'll have to check that out.

Shawn

Aimpoint has a nice 3x magnifier and Unity Tactical makes an awesome FAST mount for the T2 along with a very nice flip up for the magnifier.
