Comprehensive Guide To Zeroing Your Rifle
Added 2020-11-12 03:18:03 +0000 UTCHello Tiers II and III,
In this video I cover how I zero my rifles from scratch. Starting with iron sights and then moving into optics in this example.
Grab a snack. This is a long one!
For this setup, I dialed in a 36 yard zero on both my iron sights and Eotech. Original post on the 36 yard zero here https://www.vigilanceelite.com/blogs/vigilance-elite-blogs/36-yard-zero.
Zeroing is actually my personal favorite part of shooting because it is where all of the gear and training come together. When done properly, your setup becomes personalized to you and dialed in for your eyes.
It is a meticulous process that can be frustrating at times but this is where we build our confidence.
Hopefully this will help any shooters here who are new to rifles and simultaneously motivate our more advanced patrons to get out to the range and dial in those uncalibrated projects. (I know because the rifle in this video is one of my uncalibrated projects!)
Please let me know if you have any questions. More like this in production as we are ramping up training this month.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers!

2022-09-30 11:41:58 +0000 UTCI have been shooting a long time but I still love watching the and learning more in depth about the basics and fundamentals. I wish every video was this long and this in detail. Rock on buddy!

2022-07-19 21:35:40 +0000 UTCIt's interesting to me how similar this whole process is to setting up a guitar (bridge height, neck tension, pickup height, intonation, etc....) Even the part about marking settings on the optics: The first thing people love to do with amps and pedals is fuck with the knobs, so if you don't mark, write down, or take a picture of your settings, you can be really screwed when it's show time.

2021-08-20 15:57:26 +0000 UTCD@mn! Awesome stuff. Thank you for taking the time to properly explain the process. Love the videos you and your team put together! PS theirs no such thing as too long of a video when teaching. People can always pause and come back later. Half the time I watch each video 2 or 3 times to make sure it sticks in the dome. As always we appreciate ya. Take care

2021-08-20 04:41:48 +0000 UTCCouldn't agree more that zeroing is enjoyable. The process builds confidence while testing your patience. Clicking on that 36 yard vid next. Really glad I joined the group, thanks Shawn.

2021-01-29 05:51:18 +0000 UTCKnow of any good open shooting ranges in central Texas? The Best of the West in Liberty Hill shut down because of people goofing off at the 1000 yard range. Neighbors past the dunes found rounds in their yard and the neighbors I believed happened to be lawyers. Ughh.

2021-01-28 04:48:10 +0000 UTCZero with. Suppressors can change your point of impact. Good to know what it is with and without.

2021-01-05 04:33:46 +0000 UTCShawn, if I'm going to run my AR with a suppressor do you recommend zeroing with or without? Also will a suppressor change my zero if I remove it?

2021-01-02 12:12:52 +0000 UTCIt can but not sure how much of a difference it'd make. It'd be good to zero at your range and then verify at varying yardages to confirm.

2020-12-29 05:43:38 +0000 UTCI'm a little late just got a subscription yesterday. Would doing my zero on a hill make a difference? My range has a slope going into the bottom of a hill thats why I am asking.
