The 2025 is here

I guess you heard the news.

Time to slowly get back to work. As I said in one of my earlier posts, I'll start the year with upgrading the js framework I'm using, but after that, who knows. I have some ideas, but I thought I'd ask you, our dear astronauts, to check if there's something specific you'd like to see this year on ITAD. Let me know.

What a year

Steam Winter sale is in full swing, which can mean only one thing - the last few days of 2024 are upon us. And what a year it was.

I was thinking that I will write this long post about how IsThereAnyDeal has changed this year and what a ride that was, but I'm behind my baking and I bet you have better things to do as well, so I'll keep it short.

Thank you for sticking with us. And I want to thank especially you, our Patreon Astronauts. You are the best. I hope you have found a lot of great deals this year and you will find even more in a next one. Whether you celebrate holidays or not, I wish you will be spending these days in peace, and I hope you'll have not just a great start to 2025, but an awesome year.

See you soon.

Indonesia, Taiwan and Augmented Steam 4.2.1

I said I will add 4 regions by the end of the year, and that was a lie. I added 5. Indonesia and Taiwan are the last ones for now, we'll see how ITAD is going to handle that and if all goes well, we might add more next year.

At the time when I'm posting this, Steam is still being updated so some games may be missing. Shouldn't take long. As usual, note for new countries:

From now on, prices should be more accurate for you, but unfortunately we don't have historical data for your region, so you will see a lot of historical lows, and no price history for games.

Until now we were showing US prices as a fallback. If you wish, you can change your region to the US (with your preferred currency) and continue using ITAD as you were used to.

If you see incorrect tracking somewhere, please let me know.

Also, I've submitted Augmented Steam 4.2.1, a hotfix release in which I fixed custom links on profiles and app pages.

Augmented Steam 4.2.0, South Korea, Japan

Yesterday, Augmented Steam 4.2.0 has been submitted for review

Release notes:

Valve continues to update Steam and fully rebuild it in React. The recent wishlist update they did was just that. Even though it looks the same as the old version, everything has changed and works in a very different way. That provides some new challenges for us, and we expect them to continue page by page in a similar fashion.

That said, this update brings the most of the Wishlist functionality back, hopefully Steam won't break it again too quickly.

Some of the site-wide common features were not yet ported over (the removal of trademarks from names, for example), and some of the things may no longer be possible. A known issue is that if you change your rank in any of the sorting other than "Your rank", and then go back to that one, Steam won't update your ranking automatically, becase we can no longer easily attach to Steam's code and tell it that something has changed (the other way works fine).

Some other non-wishlist changes:

  • fixed custom links that contained &

  • fixed store assets, using new CDN

  • fixed missing FKeepSSACheckboxState in register key context

And continuing with adding more countries' coverage on ITAD, South Korea and Japan are now directly tracked.

India

In last update I said that I will be adding support for new countries by the end of the year. First of these is India.

At the time of the posting this, all of the stores should be up to date, only Steam has a little bit more to go. If you see incorrect tracking somewhere, please let me know.

Basic subscription support is finally here

Starting with tracking EA Play, EA Play Pro, Game Pass, Prime Gaming, Ubisoft+ Classics and Ubisoft+ Premium, we now have basic pillars that we can build upon in the future. Amazon Luna is not yet covered. I still don't think I have all this various subscriptions figured out, so let me know when something's wrong, and what you want me to further do with these.

This also means that Prime Gaming will no longer be posted to Giveaways.

What's in this update:

  • when a game is included in a subscription, the banner will show on the game page

  • in Deals list and Waitlist, the games in subscription will have a flag, similar to "bundled" flag that you know

  • in settings, you can select which subscriptions you are paying for and games from these will be further highlighted, similar to how Waitlist and Collection highlight works

  • you can browse contents of the individual subscriptions

  • unrelated, but we are now also on Bluesky

What to expect next?

Before the winter sales start, I want to add support for new countries. I'm thinking of adding 4, which would be increase of our coverage by 50%. I'm not completely set on which countries these will be yet. Once the region is added, it should be transparent for you if you are from affected country, the only thing that unfortunately will happen is that you will not have the price history from before. If you are concerned about that, you can switch to US which is a default fallback for countries we do not cover (= what you see now). If all goes well, I'd like to add more regions next year.

And then, until the end of the year and most likely the start of the new one I'll be working on updating ITAD to Svelte 5.

Smaller update this time

  • added option to choose sorting of games in Waitlist notifications (note that this will apply only to new notifications)

  • added another option for "only better than last time" Waitlist rule, which will also allow same price as last time, not only strictly better

  • Astronauts (our Patreon members of any paying tier) can now choose from a selection of user icons

  • added HowLongToBeat overview to game pages - it's a best effort, for lack of better way to pair games they are paired via title

  • added excluded from Steam Family Sharing flag to game pages, if game is excluded from Family Sharing

  • once again tweaks to search, let me know if it's better or worse

  • and a general deal of various tweaks and bugfixes

Notifications, Email Customizations, RSS, Favorite shops

New update is up, and it's a meaty one.

*tl;dr: new notification system, Waitlist email customization, RSS, favorite shops, Patreon integration*

Get comfy, here we go:

New notification system

  • we added new notification system, you can now see your notifications directly on ITAD. Currently only Waitlist notifications are supported. Notifications are still handled by frequency setting

  • you can now specifically turn off email notifications via toggle, until now this was handled by you having email set

Waitlist Email Notifications

Added customization for Waitlist email notifications:

  • set custom email subject

  • toggle images

  • toggle between current and compact notification style, that is reminiscent of old Waitlist emails

  • choose whether to receive full notification or short

All this customizations can be set up via new editor where you will see live preview.

  • we now show in settings when your Waitlist was last checked for notifications

  • you can reset notifications - this will generate new notification as if you have not yet received any notification

  • notifications will now show last price you were notified about

Waitlist

  • added button to quickly change rules

  • specific rules now show price limit if you have manually set price for the rule

  • removed toggle between "best" and "passing" deals. Your Waitlist will now show you the best price that is passing your rules. If there is none, it will show overall best price. Prices will now show icons to signify whether the deal is "best", "passing" or both.

  • fixed "passing" flag sometimes not being shown, even when there was a passing deal

  • fixed voucher rules not being respected (Waitlist never showed prices with vouchers)

  • added "bundled" flag for games that are currently in bundle

  • you can now toggle whether catgory has notifications enabled and whether it is public directly from Waitlist

  • added Rule/price difference sorting

  • you can now swap Waitlist and Collection colors

Waitlist rule settings

  • new price limit options: 3 month and 1 year store low and historical low

  • added option to only notify if the price is strictly better than the last notification

  • fixed price limit not being set correctly for some currencies

Waitlist detail

  • game title is now clickable and will lead you to game page

  • added last notification info, which shows date of last notification and price. This can be reset which might be useful if you have notifications for only better prices

  • added email notifications checkup, that shows whether you can receive notification for the game

Shops

  • you can now choose favorite shops - Favorite shops will show in game pages above regular price table, always in the order you have chosen. You have 3 slots, choose wisely.

  • overhauled Shop settings, to be more user friendly

  • fixed price modification not being computed properly in some cases

Game Pages

  • added favorite shops prices if you have them set up

  • passing deals will be highlighted in prices table

  • Waitlist overview now has a button to quickly change rules

  • highlights will now also show 3 month and 1 year historical low

  • historical low show date where they were recorded

  • bundles highlight will show both active and total counts

Deals List

  • added shops filter to sidebar. Either your favorite shops, or Steam, Epic and GOG will be shown there

  • refactored shop filter selector

  • added mature filter (for all you naughties!)

Specials

  • fixed bundle blacklist not being respected

  • fixed Specials settings resetting changes when you have changed frequency

RSS

  • added Waitlist notifications RSS

  • added RSS page where you can easily modify your RSS feeds with filters

Patreon

Added Patreon integration

  • you can connect your Patreon account, and if you are at least in Pilot tier, you can turn off affiliate links

API

  • added rudimentary webhooks support currently supporting Waitlist notifications, so you can build your own notification systems/tools

  • added full notifications API endpoints

  • fixed shop parameter not being respected for games/overview (this fixes Augmented Steam historical prices)

  • Waitlist and Collection games endpoints now list timestamps

Full changelog

Misc

  • user menu has moved to the right

  • better handling of URLs when they are missing trailing slash

  • added GameBillet tracking for their new Brazilian storefront

  • added GameBillet voucher tracking

  • various other tweaks here and there, you know how it goes

PS: new system might take a little bit to catch up. Please let me know if you notice something not working, too. And if you have ideas for Patreon rewards you'd like to see, shout them out as well :)

I've tried to make a video

This was my first venture into this kind of stuff. It's video only, no audio, and the idea was to try to make something, that I could send to YouTubers, to play in the background while they say a nice thing or two about ITAD. So ad. Yes, I tried to make an ad.

It's by no means perfect, but I think it kinda works? So who knows, maybe you'll stumble upon this somewhere, in the depths of internet.

(There's an intentionally long start and end of the video, in case someone would want to make a transition instead of an abrupt cut)

Hello, Astronauts!

IsThereAnyDeal's job has always been to save you money by looking for the best deals for any game you might want to play.

If you've been in our orbit for a while, you might already know that we fund IsThereAnyDeal by having affiliate links to some of the shops we cover. This means that the more money we save you, the less we have for keeping the engines running!

I have been asked whether it's possible to donate money to ITAD. Until now, that was not an option, but hopefully now there will be a good way to do that. Don't worry, I am not going to lock any features behind the paywall; the ITAD you know now is going to stay on course.

If you do decide to support us and join the crew, you will get a special role and an exclusive access to an Astronaut Lounge on our Discord server. Also an occasional behind the scenes look on what I am currently working on. But if this really takes off, I have ideas for more rewards I hope to add.

And of course, you will have my greatest gratitude.
