AK Overhaul
Added 2020-11-10 04:40:43 +0000 UTCHello Patreons,
Here's a video talking about my preliminary AK Setup that I threw together a few years back. I cover the issues that I have with it and talk a little bit about what changes I'll be making. Parts are already ordered and the new AK47 Setup 2020 video is in production. I'll be testing it and reporting back.
We are ramping up training this week. The weather is nice and we are hitting the range. Lot's of videos in the queue and we are focusing on upping the volume of content here on Patreon.

Hi from Russia! I have both Saigas and ARs. Do you think a gun with non-local caliber is ok as main "emergency" weapon? It is the only reason I keep 5.45 short-barreled Saiga, I like ARs more) Thanks!

2020-12-08 04:56:07 +0000 UTCThat thing looks pretty slick. I'm digging the new AK gear that's come out since I last looked into it. This setup video is going to be fun.

2020-12-08 04:48:34 +0000 UTCFirst thank you for all the great info. It's very helpful. Also, do you have an ETA for the AK Setup video with the new parts/ configuration?

2020-11-13 02:06:54 +0000 UTCGood notes. Yeah that heat on the AK platform can be a surprise especially in a hot environment. Update coming soon.

2020-11-12 05:48:12 +0000 UTCBeen looking at the Palmetto State Armory ones lately. I think I'm going to give one a shot.

2020-11-12 05:42:15 +0000 UTCSaigas are cool guns. Yup market changes.

2020-11-12 05:38:35 +0000 UTCI've been looking at those myself. No hands on yet but likely going to try one. Also something like a Mini 30 might be a good option but, those are also very hard to find these days.

2020-11-12 04:25:33 +0000 UTCYeah the GEN3's are much better. It all depends on how you fit and bend the tab to keep it secure to your receiver. I think a lot of people just slap them on and don't bend that tab. Then they complain it sucks and won't hold zero.

2020-11-10 22:03:03 +0000 UTCSome food for thought. I had an AK almost the same set up. Sold it a while ago and bought an old school under folder a few years ago and went through a similar transformation. I have a midwest industries gas tube with pic rail on it with a micro red dot. Works great maintains zero. I had the full rail from midwest industries and like you know it runs super hot but it was easier running an optic. I kept the wood bottom fore grip. I've done the wooden dong too but don't like how it looks. Even when it run it hot I don't need gloves except in the summer and I have to be running it hard. Did an old school yugo leather sling looks badass but it's short as a two point the under folder receivers have a sling mount on the receivers so you could do that. I don't have a light on it only thing. Good luck with the set up changes. I found out AKs can be tough to change cuz of different country manufacturing and the stock set up seems to dictate alot of what you can do.

2020-11-10 15:18:19 +0000 UTCAlot of AKs are us made now. An import ban probably won't matter to much since most companies have learned their lesson since it was last done in 1989 and have mfg done here.

2020-11-10 13:30:49 +0000 UTCMan I need another AK had a few over the years and sold them like a idiot! They just run n run, there a a few companies here in the U.S. that are making them and they are good to go. Just don’t get a Century AK 😂

2020-11-10 13:27:53 +0000 UTCThanks for this video, I've said it before I don't know a lot about AK's and I've always held off buying one because I didn't want to make costly mistakes and unlike AR's, specs on AK's can vary between manufacturers so swapping parts might not be an option. My concern with the future is if Biden stays the winner, he's pledged to ban the import of foreign "assault weapons" which could be a problem for imported AK's.

2020-11-10 11:26:21 +0000 UTCI guess the ammo is more abundant now because of the AK shortage. If you didn't get one Pre-Obama ban, the piece is going to bite be 3-5x more than they used to be. Got a Saiga Izmash Russian made badass AK for like $200 in the early 2000s. Rounds also used to be 10cents a piece. Oh how times dvd changed.

2020-11-10 06:46:53 +0000 UTCOh the irony here. The ammo is now easy to find however the AK is almost impossible. Suggestions on good model? I've heard good things about the Palmetto PSAK-47 GF4.
