Cross Eye Dominant Pistol Shooting Techniques

Tier II & Tier III Exclusive

VIDEO PASSWORD: VE588T2

This video covers techniques to help cross eye dominant shooters. This one will also be helpful if you end up helping a cross dominant shooter at the range. Also useful if, heaven forbid, you ever lose the use of your dominant eye.

Please feel free to ask any questions on the comments here. This one's for you Andrew!

Just finished another filming session and more videos are in editing now. Safety manipulation philosophy coming at you soon!

As always, adhere to all firearms safety rules and range commands at your facility. For more info on safety, see https://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/

I just took my daughter to the range yesterday for her first handgun shoot! She was getting bored with the 10-22🤣. She was holding her hear to the side…lefty and using her right eye Since she only has one day with a handgun, should I continue with her shooting right handed to match her dominant eye? Thanks in advance!!

The 45ACP Guy

Ahhhhh! I’m the person that looks ridiculous with covering my right eye! And at the end of the day, I’m hitting targets so I don’t care 😂

Hey Shawn, just upgraded to see these videos. I'm getting my first AR (ambi) next week and am L eye + R handed. Was planning to try to learn to shoot left handed. First in the video you say to learn opposite hand, but then you said you went back to dominant hand, because you couldn't "keep up". 1. Would you still recommend a civilian stick with non-dominant hand because we will never have to be as fast as a SEAL in CQB? Does use of EOTech or Red dot instead of Irons change your opinion? 2. I have been shooting pistol right handed with canted head like you show here. John Lovell said same thing. Since I'm relatively new, should I try to shoot pistol left handed also or stick with the head cant? 3. Got a Sig MPX (with red dot) for HD on your rec. Should that be left handed too? Thanks so much. Loved the interviews with DJ Shipley, Rob O'Neil, Eddie Penney and especially Nick Frietas. Hope that guy becomes our President Thank you for all your contributions to this great country. Hope I get a chance to shake your hand one day.

Thank you for this. My girlfriend is cross eye dominant and I have been looking for ways to help her improve

Wow shawn I had no idea I was left eye dominant. This explains a lot.

This video is helpful, I’m a lefty right eye dominant.. but in the Marine Corps shooting a riffle I just shot right handed.. still do to this day… I always wondered if I should have just done something more like this and shoot lefty giving me more precise control over the trigger… I’m working on pistol shooting self teaching through tutorials.. it’s a slow process but it works fine lol this video is really intriguing

Alex Tissot

Thanks for this one, was dealing with this issue and had a chance to try it out yesterday at the range… shooting lefty and looking like a complete muppet but it works… Now I need to work on shot anticipation…

I’m going through the pistol fundamentals videos again. I’ve come a long ways in the last couple years since first watching this video. I don’t even notice the left eye dominance issue anymore. I went from missing to hitting in just a few mags. Also I’ve helped other people correct this issue. Good stuff.

Having joined your Patreon today and coming from a EU country I will just say this - I wish I have seen and knew this earlier, took me good few months and 2 rubbish 'trainers' to finally figure it out. Super helpful content!

Glad this helped! Let me know if you have any questions about it moving forward.
