Old School AR Setup (PREVIEW)
Added 2020-03-10 15:31:24 +0000 UTC
In this video I cover the setup on the first AR I bought. This setup is very close to what I used to run during my time in the SEAL Teams. It's fun to look back and see this as "vintage" but the fact is, this setup got it done and can still perform. In a landscape of latest and greatest, sometimes it's good to remember tried and true.
Remember: It is not the gear that makes the shooter.
Your preview reminded me of another fellow - a Marine - that I visited with once at Camp Perry. He was watching me nervously shoot my grandfather's M1 Garand. I didn't do to terribly bad, he gave me a thumbs up. He asked where I picked up the Garand and told him of my grandfather's bring back from WW II. As he was handling the old war horse, he said it isn't the gun but the shooter that makes his mark. That man was none other than GySgt Carlos Hathcock. Very humble man but it is a memory I always treasure.

I dig them. Also kind of old school. I'll probably be doing a video on magazine selection soon.

I'd love to get my hands one one of those for a range day. Fun stuff.

Meant to ask how do you like the Ranger mag pull? Are they worth it?

In times where the latest and greatest get all the spotlight, there's a lot to be said for practical.
