So, bad news out of the way first - the next release of the Rusty Seas alpha has fallen victim to the old 'encountering more problems than I anticipated and also old stuff broke' that seems to afflict virtually every video game production. It simply needs more time in the over at this point, but with any luck the way forward should be clear(er). I'm going to hold off on promising a date for the next Rusty Seas release for patrons aside from SOON(tm) until I have a better idea of when the next big leg of production will be done.
I'm anticipating getting all the way up to the first boss fight and fleshing out the dialogue and cutscenes which, while klunky to work with, can proceed steadily as far as I know. The next big things will be implementing items and saving, which is where I expect many things will break as is often the case with new mechanics. BUT, if all this gets done, I would say that would make a good 20% of the total game finished, with the rest being creating assets and programming more bosses.
In any case, the bundle of hurdles stuck in front of me on Rusty Seas has left me a little dry on new content this week, so I spent most of Saturday making sure I had a Fourth of July pic! It's been a little while since Sofi and Xusky have been in the same pic, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for it! I also included a new screenshot of Rusty Seas and some of the dialogue puppets that will appear in the next update, as well as the usual full-res deep dives!
