Maybe if they were more comfortable with recast or had a show Bible they would refer too, it would help. At this point, just reject any actor who has an interest in music to make sure they don't leave to start a music career 🤷🏾♀️.

Also instead of a new girl they should’ve had the other person that works at sips be the new roommate. They are awesome! The new girl has a good voice though

Or maybe not, but dang how you let Kimberly take yo man 🤔 😂 Anywho, I agree with everything stated. I feel like Bella pursuing her comedian dreams should have continued, Whitney should have stayed with the new hottie and chosen to take things off her plate. I really don't like Kimberly...to be honest she looks too old to play their peer and acts like the girl version of Urkel with less common sense. It'll be a miracle if they get a season 4

The plot is nonexistent but I still really want a new season. The friendship between the main girls keeps me coming back. I need the writers, show runners, etc to believe in the potential of the show.

The Taylor character had me lost from her first minutes on screen, even as a British person her accent is very jarring and almost try-hard in this setting. Now WHAT the point of that Kimberley & Canaan storyline for her to be forgiven by episode 2? It just feels like that was random and then Kimberly just went back to dating white boys like when do it becomes???? Whitney has anxiety but they’re not doing enough of a good job of showing that and why has Bella given up on trying to be a comedian??? Oh and OF COURSE Bella’s Asian boyfriend couldn’t just be normal and that’s already over 😴

The show lost its way quickly. I can’t fully remember if s2 was during the writer strikes but I think it was, and it showed.

Mine was Leighton and i shipped her with Whitney. I agree with your assessment that Whitney’s character has actually been the biggest let down of this season. I also agree that it doesn’t seem like there are black writers in the writers room. Whenever Isaiah was flirting with Whitney and called her “hot” I cringed. Like black ppl do not talk like that. I’ve never had a nigga call me “hot” we say bad, fine, and maybe sexy. also agree Whitney should’ve stayed with Isaiah.

For example, I think the reason Kimberly and Whitney made up so quick is because the writers didn’t want to have to make it so Leighton was gone AND Kimberly & Whitney weren’t talking for the next few episodes. Because in my opinion that could’ve been a whole season arc where they don’t reconcile til the very end. Also, Whitney and Kimberly have always been my favorite characters and I hate what they’ve done with Whitney in terms of her love life. Her and Isaiah were amazing together and it feels like the writers were trying to convince themselves and us that they weren’t right for each other even though they were. For me Whitney and Canaan don’t have that spark or that sexual chemistry but her and Isaiah definitely do. Also, did Whitney just forget that she also comes from a very rich family? So her being grossed out by Isaiah being so rich and privileged confused the Hell out of me LOL. And I agree with you, her interactions with her black friends are some of my faves. They are all hilarious. But yes Whitney has had like 4 storylines start and get dropped like it’s nothing (the black female professor she had a banter with went nowhere, the rival soccer teammate, Isaiah/Canaan love triangle, and the therapy storyline) Hopefully the writers hit the drawing board hard before Season 4 if we get renewed. This show still hasn’t fallen off for me yet but it is in the danger zone. I just love all the actresses too much and the side characters to give up on it! Hell, I can’t have GENERA+ION so this will have to do!!

2025-01-19 05:49:48 +0000 UTCi def agree with most of your critiques of this season. i guess my standards for the show have gone down a bit since the longe hiatus and renee leaving but i’ve still been kinda enjoying this season tbh. i think a huge reason for that has been the new roommate though she’s lowkey hilarious and i knew a lot of ppl like her in college so i think she hits a niche. taylor character is so boring and they’ve really started to neglect the growth of the main trio. kimberly and bela are still great at times but you’re right that the writers have no idea what to do with them. they’ve never known what to do with whitney her only consistency is making horrible decisions. tbh i think i’ve let a lot slide this season because at the end of the day i’m just glad a show like this exists. but yea hopefully they get another season to figure their shit out!

2025-01-19 05:04:54 +0000 UTClike i was ready to see how Bela would comeback mentally and from her chaos and mess of last season to pursue her goal in comedy and how Kimberly would try to fix the Whitney and dude situation she got in and how Whitney would navigate the sorority (and get some more actual story). so many opportunities for comedic and heartfelt moments to flesh out over this season, and they took none of them… there’s so much more i wanna say but maybe i just care too much about these characters 😭

Kelly, because the idea of anyone being married to that man is absolutely wilddd + I didn't remember hearing about her during the height of r.kellys media presence a few years back. It seems she's married to a drummer named RJ Kelly, I'm not sure if there is a relation between him and the incarcerated kelly but at the very least she doesn't seem to be with that man.

I 100% agree, a lot of people may not outright be right wing, but people are definitely more willing to fall into the traps and engage with things using those conservative talking points. A lot of people I've respected I've seen make that transition to just being low vibrational and falling for the okey doke. Trump has given a lot of people license to not have to watch what they say/think because he's shown that you can get away with A LOT and still be okay. And I'm sure there's also a connection to men being increasingly violent and hostile towards women and the rise of "female." Now everyone thinks they're "keeping it real" and peeped game meanwhile they dumb af and are leaning into racism/xenophiba/misogyny/conspiracy. I feel like everyday i have to keep checking someone for saying some shit out of line. It's even worse too because things are ACTUALLY crumbling and falling apart, but people are just becoming bozos and are losing the plot to what's going on. So I'm right there with you Kenya, it's team SJW out here idgaf!!

I also think Whitney's actress is v involved on Broadway, so that takes up her time too, so who's gonna be available to film a hypothetical season 4??? it's such a shame bc season 1 was SOOO fun, but all good things must end eventually :(

Just like you said it seems like it’s always done to justify that character only dating white guys. I watched the first season on Sex Lives of College Girls but I saw so many of the Mindy show tropes, I knew they weren’t going to do anything interesting with Whitney. Also, you asking if the show had any black writers made me look it up. There’s a black writer named Vanessa Baden who’s credited for 11 episodes throughout all 3 seasons. She wrote for all that, kenan & kel, and (I think) Giant. But what shook me most is she’s been married to R. Kelly since 2013. IDEK what to think about that
